Beginning of the Year Parent Meetings
August 1-August 31st
Deerfield staff feel it is very important to start building trusting relationships as early as possible with their students and parents. Several years ago all classroom teachers began meeting with parents before school started to learn about their incoming students and their family. It was, and continues to be, a priority that our students AND parents feel safe and valued in this space. This time was specifically designed for the parents to do the talking and the teachers to do the listening. During these meeting the parents are asked to share about their child's strengths, interests, family, culture and traditions, etc. It is suggested that teachers send information about themselves and the classroom to parents prior to the meeting so that the focus of the meeting stays on the child and their family. More information will be sent to you once you have your class list in August.
Technology In the Classroom
You will get a set of 5 Macbooks and 5 IPads. In addition, we have several computer carts that can be checked out by signing up on the SharePoint Computer Check-Out Calendar button. The location of each cart is listed on the calendars. It is important to note that you can check out any computer cart. Just because they are located in a particular grade level does not mean that grade level “owns” the cart.
