Good Morning Sanger High School

Good morning Team...

Wow! What a great week. If you didn't get a chance to see the parade on Saturday, here is a quick snapshot. We had twice as many floats this year.

Thanks to Mr. Valdez, Mrs. Hewlett, Ms. Becerra, Sanger Band and STUCCO for a great week. Friday night was a big win for our football team and the Homecoming court.

Thanks again to all that made this past week such a success!

Congratulations to our Band for winning "The Best 4A Band" at Birdville Fine Arts stadium Saturday. Kuddos to our Band for marching in our homecoming parade and then jumping on a bus to Birdville. Great job!

Go Indians!

Birthday Celebrations!

We want to a very happy birthday to....

Mr. Crutsinger (9/29)

A note from Ms. Bilbrey....

During the 84th Legislative Session, HB 2186 was presented and passed requiring all schooldistrict employees to receiving training regarding Youth Suicide Prevention.

(If you have not yet...)

You will be receiving an email from Sanger ISD with the SafeSchools (our online professional development training) notifying you of this mandatory training. Please note this is a lengthytraining (2 hours); therefore, you may work on this training in sections. You are NOT required to watch the training at one sitting. You will have until Friday, November 20th to complete it. However, do not wait until the 20th to begin this training as it is lengthy.

I know you would agree that it takes every possible set of eyes to keep our students safe. This training is designed to help us know what to be aware of when we do just that.....keep our Sanger students safe.

Instructional Practices

Effective Feedback

Grant Wiggins, author of the article, Seven Keys to Effective Feedback (2012), describes the term feedback. He states, "Feedback is often used to describe all kinds of comments made after the fact, including advice, praise, and evaluation. But none of these are feedback, strictly speaking."

Effective feedback is intentionally delivered to provide students with specific and timely information about what they understand in relation to the learning target. Feedback is descriptive, not evaluative, and aligns to the learning target.

I firmly believe that if we purposefully focus on two major instructional strategies...Formative Assessment and Effective Feedback within our classrooms, then student achievement will be positively impacted.

Please take a moment to click on the link below. The video discusses feedback and formative assessment. You can't have one without the other.

From the Technology Team

What is Google Classroom?

Google Classroom is designed to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized.

Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.

Parking Lot

We had 2 suggestion posted this week...

Name and classroom # plates

Great idea....we have already taken a needs assessment and we are working to replace all broken or worn out signage.

Consistency Reminder..hats and drinks in the classroom.

Thank you for the reminder. It is important that everyone supports the policies and expectations at SHS. If we as a campus all pitch in, then no one person feels like he/she is carrying all of the burdern. Refering back to our social contract, we agreed to respect and support one another.

Thanks for the comments.
