As we all adjust to the current events around us, EduTech has been hard at work to continue to support schools across our region. We have the majority of our staff working from home with a small crew going into the offices (both Newark and LeRoy) to monitor systems and to handle support that may involve onsite work. As events unfold we will continue to communicate with you updates as we receive them.


EduTech is still here and we continue to help in any way we can.

FBI COVID-19 Resource Page

The FBI created a COVID-19 resource page to raise threat awareness and to help us protect ourselves during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Visit https://www.fbi.gov/coronavirus for accurate and up-to-date information on COVID-19 and associated potential threats, both physical and cyber, to watch out for.

LakeNet Expands Internet Connectivity Options

In an effort to increase internet connectivity for students in the region, EduTech is in the process of expanding our wifi coverage to the parking lots of EduTech's locations. We are working on making this signal strong enough that students of all ages will be able to connect to the internet to complete coursework. This Wi-Fi network is called EduTech Online Learning. If you are interested in utilizing this network to give your students an additional WIFI connection option, please contact Kelli Eckdahl at kelli.eckdahl@edutech.org

The following locations will have this connectivity:


  • EduTech LeRoy, 7115 West Main Road, LeRoy -the right hand side of building (side with the signage and generator)
  • Wayne Finger Lakes BOCES, 131 Drumlin Court, Newark - anywhere on campus

Online Conference Guidance

As you are aware, there has been much discussion (both online and offline) about how best to keep our students, teachers and staff “safe” while video conferencing during this COVID-19 environment. The BOCES of NYS have created a website that will help any district, teacher, Board of Education better protect itself when utilizing video conferencing in any format.

This was a cooperative effort involving the Regional Information Center Directors, Model Schools and Distance Learning Consortium members that was developed in two days.

Tips to Avoid Getting "Zoombombed"

“Zoombombing” is a type of cyberattack in which a cyber actor hijacks a Zoom teleconferencing chat. The attack can be disturbing as the hijackers often post illicit and/or violent content.

Buzzfeed has provided eight tips to help us all avoid getting “zoombombed” when using Zoom as a video conference platform. Use these tips to secure your next Zoom meeting, and be well.

Dear Valued Customer,

We’re always striving to deliver you a secure virtual meeting environment. Starting April 5th, we’ve chosen to enable passwords on your meetings and turn on Waiting Rooms by default as additional security enhancements to protect your privacy.

Meeting Passwords Enabled “On”
Going forward, your previously scheduled meetings (including those scheduled via your Personal Meeting ID) will have passwords enabled. If your attendees are joining via a meeting link, there will be no change to their joining experience. For attendees who join meetings by manually entering a Meeting ID, they will need to enter a password to access the meeting.

For attendees joining manually, we highly recommend re-sharing the updated meeting invitation before your workweek begins. Here’s how you can do that:

Log in to your account, visit your Meetings tab, select your upcoming meeting by name, and copy the new meeting invitation to share with your attendees. For step-by-step instructions, please watch this 2-minute video or read this FAQ.

For meetings scheduled moving forward, the meeting password can be found in the invitation. For instant meetings, the password will be displayed in the Zoom client. The password can also be found in the meeting join URL.

Virtual Waiting Room Turned on by Default
Going forward, the virtual waiting room feature will be automatically turned on by default. The Waiting Room is just like it sounds: It’s a virtual staging area that prevents people from joining a meeting until the host is ready.


How do I admit participants into my meeting?
It’s simple. As the host, once you’ve joined, you’ll begin to see the number of participants in your waiting room within the Manage Participants icon. Select Manage Participants to view the full list of participants, then, you’ll have the option to admit individually by selecting the blue Admit button or all at once with the Admit All option on the top right-hand side of your screen. Infinite Campus

Dear Valued Infinite Campus Client,

Once Campus Learning is activated be sure to assign your teachers the additional tool rights.


  • Districts can visit Infinite Campus University (ICU) to view free, live trainings designed for teachers to leverage activities and communication with students and parents when students are not coming to the school buildings. Topics include; student submission editor, quick assessments, class/group discussions, scoring assignments, Google Drive, class messenger, and much more.
  • Teachers should visit campuslearning.com whether your district is taking advantage of Campus Learning or not. Teachers will find several links to Product Information, Teachers Blog, What’s New in Campus Learning, and a curated version of the Campus Community specifically for teachers.

Mindex is providing helpful information, but the guidance from NYSED will determine what is entered into the system.

  • In an effort to minimize requirements for school districts, charters, and BOCES, the Department is suspending the Teacher-Student Data Linkage reporting requirement for the 2019-20 school year.

School And District Accountability - SED Released Info April 6, 2020

The federal government has provided New York State with a one-year waiver from provisions of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) pertaining to State assessments and school and district accountability determinations due to the unique circumstances that have arisen as a result of the COVOID-19 crisis. Therefore, the Department amends the Commissioner’s regulations to specify that the Commissioner will not conduct a review of school and district performance using 2019-20 school year data. The accountability status of public schools and districts for the 2020-21 school year will remain the same as for the 2019-20 school year; and 2018-19 school year results shall be used in any instance where 2019-20 school year results would have been used as part of the process of making 2021-22 school year accountability determinations.

Additionally, the proposed amendment provides that the Commissioner may, upon a finding of good cause, modify timelines for the 2019-20 through 2021-22 school years [any required timelines] pertaining to notifications, plans, reports, or implementation of activities required of schools and districts because of their accountability status during those school years.

Suspension of EduTech Installs

Per governor's latest executive order, EduTech will not be able to perform installs under the current conditions. The current situation changes rapidly and we will continue to update you as regulations change.




Executive Order 202.6 is hereby modified to clarify that construction which was an essential service not subject to the in-person work restrictions is modified to provide only certain construction is considered exempt from the in-person restrictions as of March 28, 2020. Further, on and after March 27, 2020, Empire State Development Corporation is hereby authorized to determine which construction projects shall be essential and thereby exempt from the in-person workforce prohibition, contained in EO 202.6 and subsequent Executive Orders which further reduced the workforce requirements. All continuing construction projects shall utilize best practices to avoid transmission of COVID-19.

AccelerateU continues to offer online Regents, AP, and elective courses on a rolling enrollment basis.

Adding students to our system and requesting courses is quick, and we can enroll within a day.

For students who have mastered part of a course, please follow these instructions:

  1. Visit our site (http://accelerateu.org) and click on "Course List"
  2. Download the syllabus
  3. Cross off what the student has already mastered
Send the syllabus back, and we will customize a course to meet that student's needs

Courier Service

EduTech deliveries will not occur if a district is closed. If there is an emergency or a special circumstance, please contact the warehouse at warehouse@edutech.org.


Equipment deliveries will be made by appointment by contacting your project coordinator. Districts must be able to provide a contact number and on site staff to accept the delivery.
