Positivity Project: Forgiveness
This week during P2, students will be learning about Forgiveness. Students will learn that forgiveness is the ability to move past being injured, and allow yourself to reconcile with the person who hurt you.Our Cheetahs are learning so much through their P2 Lessons each day, be sure to ask your students about their favorite character strength!
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

Teacher Appreciation Week
Cheetah Families-
May 4-8 is Teacher Appreciation Week and we will be celebrating our teachers and staff in very different ways this year. In years past, the PTA has planned events to let our teachers and staff know how much they mean to us. Now that school buildings are closed and our teachers are implementing remote learning, we need to find new and creative ways to celebrate this special week.
Our teachers and staff love most of all to hear from their students! Especially since they miss seeing them everyday! Your child may even be able to use the skills they have learned in Digital Literacy to create a google doc e-card and share it with their teacher. Here are some other creative ways to honor your child’s teacher.
Help your child draw a picture or write a note and snap a photo to email to them is a great way to show your appreciation for our Superhero Teachers and Staff!
Send an E-gift card. Many businesses allow you to purchase gift cards online and send them via email.
Many teachers are using Google Meet to meet with students during remote learning. Have your student create a thank you sign to hold up during the Meet or help your student come up with some words of appreciation to share during the Meet.
Share what makes your child’s teacher so special on social media and tag our school @HSESCheetahs and use the hashtag #ThankAWCPSSTeacher.
Have your student create a video message and email it to his or her teacher. See below:
Our PTA is working on special surprises for our teachers and staff but need your help! They have set up a virtual video card that you can record a quick message to be shared with all teachers & staff. Use this link to record your message- https://share.vidday.com/o-kkjg59.
Our teachers and staff have been working extremely hard to implement remote learning for our students and many of them also are supporting learning for their own children at the same time. Thank you for helping to recognize them for all they are doing during these challenging times.
Sincerely,
Danielle Clark

UNC-TV At Home Learning (4th-12th Grade)
By executive order of the governor, public schools across North Carolina are closed due to COVID-19 through May 15. These closings have left thousands of students at home with reduced access to structured instruction.
To address this educational gap, UNC-TV and the NC Department of Public Instruction are partnering to support school-age children learning at home by providing free, curriculum-informed, over-the-air content that is widely accessible to students—especially those with limited or no internet access.
Each weekday, two blocks of programs on UNC-TV's North Carolina Channel will serve students: fourth through eighth grade, from 8 AM-1 PM, and ninth through twelfth grade, from 1-6 PM (actual times may vary, please check the weekly schedule online here).
These educational program blocks are available on the North Carolina Channel, available statewide for free over-the-air, through cable providers and streamed online here.
Rootle/PBS Kids At Home Learning (PK-3rd Grade)
Watch Rootle, your 24/7 PBS KIDS destination for wholesome, educational and entertaining content for children ages two to eight, live online here.
And now you can now catch Rootle streaming live on YouTube TV. YouTube TV represents UNC-TV’s first local livestreaming partnership and its accompanying Rootle PBS KIDS 24/7 channel extends the organization’s mission of helping prepare children for success in school and life through trusted, educational media, available anytime and anywhere. Users can access favorite series, such as Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Molly of Denali, Odd Squad, Pinkalicious & Peterrific, Wild Kratts and Sesame Street. YouTube TV subscribers can also access select content through YouTube TV’s VOD service. To access the full line-up available to UNC-TV viewers, visit the YouTube TV live guide or the PBS schedule here.
In addition to YouTube TV, UNC-TV content is available on all UNC-TV-branded PBS platforms, including PBS.org and PBSKIDS.org, as well as the PBS Video app and PBS KIDS Video app available on iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung TV and Chromecast. Station members are also able to view an extended library of quality public television programming via Passport. See the schedule below or clickto see what's airing on Rootle this week!
A Message from Wake County Public Library
We have exciting news - WCPL is hosting a Story Writing Contest for K-5th graders! Writing can spark children’s creativity, keep them engaged and focused, and help them process feelings during a challenging time. We are accepting entries until April 30.
WCPL also gives you exclusive access to databases especially for children and teens. As you know, our databases contain information that may not be accessible via Internet search engines, and they are available to you and your students for free with a library card and PIN.
Here are a few WCPL databases that are perfect for students:
CultureGrams Kids Edition – Everything you ever wanted to know about all 50 states, and more than 190 countries, is right here.
SIRS Discoverer - Articles, nonfiction books, images, activities and websites curated for educational relevance, age appropriateness, and readability.
Encyclopedia Britannica, Library Edition - Articles, images, and videos about a variety of topics. Includes atlases, timelines, and primary documents.
The complete list of WCPL databases can be found here.
No library card? No problem! You can register for a library card from home.
