Mrs. R's News
February 2016
We have been busy!
Take a look at some of the highlights!
Possessive Noun Practice
Students worked on a scavenger hunt this week.
They found sentences and wrote a related possessive noun.
It helped them move around and connect to the curriculum.
Animal Adaptations
Science
Students have been learning all about animal adaptations in science and we are continuing to grow in our understanding. Using technology, students were able to learn about specific regions of the world and how animals there adapt to their surroundings. Using that information, groups worked to prepare a "traveler" for a journey to that area. Below are pictures of students working and researching. Traveler pictures coming soon!

Other areas of learning...
MATH: We are working to master tens and ones in a variety of ways, including using place value to solve word problems.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We are meshing America themes. While we have been studying some American Symbols, and will continue to do so, we are learning about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington.
LANGUAGE: We are working to reinforce possessive nouns - students started out slow, but are making great gains in their understanding of possessives vs. plurals.
WRITING: Through our journals and Science, we are continuing to increase our stamina and quality of sentences.
OPPORTUNITY to Participate!
This week we will be experiencing Google Expeditions. There are a few slots left if you want to come and see what it's all about!
