Preschool Begins

Slackwood School is now officially a pk-3 school. On Monday, we opened the district's 4th preschool classroom with 5 students. Very soon, we will be at 10. Mrs. Ashleigh Tangen, the teacher, and her assistant, Qaiser Raza, got things going and the kids are great. One of the best things about the preschool is it gives our older kids an opportunity to be role models and leaders. What a great class and a great opportunity for our school.

Did You Know....???

Each week I am going to try to put something fun or interesting about our school, our staff, or our students in this Did You Know....???? section.

Mrs. Fletcher is a lunch assistant in our building. She and her children went to Slackwood School. We have families that have 4 generations of Slackwoodians.

Author Adam Lehrhaupt Visits Our School

Friday, November 13 was a confusing day. Author Adam Lehrhaupt came to talk to Slackwood students about writing and he showed them his two books:

Warning Do Not Open This Book

Please Open This Book

Can you see how someone might be confused? Mr. Lehrhaupt straightened it all out as he read his books to students and then answered questions. He also spent some time with Mrs. Ramirez's class talking more about writing and answering questions. Thank you to Vanessa Jerez from our PTO for organizing this event. It was a lot of fun and really interesting.

Questions to ask your child when they come home from school

When you ask your child,"How was your day?", do they give an answer like, "Fine." Here is a great article for parents to help you ask different questions that may spark conversations.
