Curriculum and Instruction

FTCSC DIBELS GOALS: Accuracy 85%and Fluency 80%

Ways to Respond to Independent Reading, Read with A Buddy, or Read Aloud Time~

1.) Review: Read back through everything you’ve read so far, glancing at the first sentence in each paragraph. Write a journal entry summarizing the main ideas in what you’ve read.

2.) Let’s Put on a Play: With your group, write a scene for a play based on the book that you are reading.

Fluency Development Lesson:

Teacher reads a short selection aloud several times. Class reads it chorally several times. This can be done in paired reading groups. Students read the selection at least 3 times. Selection is sent home to read with parents. Selection is then performed. The performance can also be done in paired reading groups/with partners.

Reaching ALL Learners

Ronna will lead the Tuesday PD in the LGI at 7:45.

Students want the safety of a primary safe and reliable relationship. Students would prefer parents, positive friends, and teachers, but they’d take an “iffy” friend if no one else were available. The relationships that teachers build with students form the single strongest access to student goals, socialization, motivation, and academic performance. For our schools to foster high achievement, every student will need a reliable partner or mentor.

Technology

Our Chromebook Cart has arrived! We will now have two carts in the building. We will call one blue and one gold. Please check the outlook calendar for availability and then email Krissy for the times you want. I will be blocking out labs and carts for April 17-May 5th due to ISTEP testing.

Athlete Mentors

I've created a Google Sheet with dates and classrooms for student athlete mentors to visit. Please review the dates and find yours. They are listed below and are in a folder in Google Drive for you. If you have any concerns with the date assigned, please let me know. The agenda and schedule that the athletes are given is below.
