SHS JAG Host Trey Hollingsworth
On Wednesday, August 22, Scottsburg High School’s JAG program was honored to host U.S. Representative Trey Hollingsworth. Trey represents Indiana’s 9thDistrict, “a wide-ranging district comprised of small businesses, suburban communities, hard-working farmers, and striving students all united by their focus on how we collectively build a more prosperous, safer, and stronger America.” Trey spoke to our students about his position in Congress and how and why he does it. He was engaging and allowed students to ask questions. Trey had this to say about his visit to Scottsburg High School, “After meeting and taking questions from Scottsburg High School JAG students, I could tell the difference this program is making on our future generations of Hoosiers. This class provides the encouragement and direction that students need to work toward the bright future that they are all capable of achieving. I look forward to seeing what their future holds!”
JAG, the program that hosted Trey, is a college and career preparation class. JAG stands for Job’s for America’s Graduates, and our goal is to help students transition from High School into either College, the workforce, or the military. Whatever path a student chooses, JAG is there to help ease into that new stage of life. Whether a student needs help filing out FAFSA, has a college they would like to visit, a special guest speaker in a career they are interested in, and even internships as seniors, JAG offers a ton of possibilities! JAG is a nationwide program and currently serves in 35 states. JAG region 10 offers classes at Austin High School, Jeffersonville High School, New Albany Senior High School and Scottsburg Senior High School. The goal of the program is to empower young people with skills to pursue post-secondary education and/ or secure quality entry-level jobs leading to career advancement opportunities. Indiana has a leading JAG program and has been involved since 2007. As for Region 10 (Clark, Floyd, Scott, Harrison, Washington, and Crawford Counties), the program has been operating since 2013.

Meet the New Additions to SHS
Jeff Cox- Principal HSTW
I am a 1991 graduate of Scottsburg High School, and a 40+ year member of the community. I taught at Jeffersonville High School for the last 23 years, while I also worked for the previous 18 years as an adjunct professor at IUS. I am excited to have come back to work in my community as HSTW Principal. I have 4 sons, 2 who are in college, and 2 who are juniors at SHS this year. Working in SCSD2 seems to be a family trait: wife teaches Language Arts at SMS, and my brother is a science teacher at New Tech.
Leah Belleville- Math Teacher
