art lesson
n this week’s art lesson we are going to make a colorful collage inspired by the artist Henri Matisse. Matisse was famous for “drawing with scissors” which means cutting shapes without drawing them first!
Here is a list of materials you will need for this project:
A piece of paper for your background
Scissors
Glue of some kind (glue sticks, Elmer’s white glue, or even tape)
Paper to use for your shapes: this can be colored paper like construction paper or bright printer paper, OR you can make your own colored paper (directions are in the second video) with coloring tools on white paper.
Ready to start? After gathering your supplies, watch this video which is a fun cartoon about Henri Matisse and his artwork. Then, watch the demonstration video which gives you directions for making your collage. Have fun!
Happy art-making!
