Indian Education Program Needs Assessment Survey

College Prep Night
High school staff will be assisting all students and parents with:
- FAFSA Sign Up
- Scholarships
- ACT/SAT
- College signups
Comanche, Kiowa, and Cheyenne and Arapaho Cultural Night
Everyone is invited to come learn about the Comanche, Kiowa, and the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribal histories and culture at Longfellow Middle School (215 N. Ponca Avenue) on February 19th from 6:00pm—8:00pm.
Program will include:
- Potluck dinner
- Sharing of Teacher Resources
- Presentations and Activities begin at 6:15 pm and end at 8pm

- Food and drinks provided
- Possible entry into the Oklahoma Native American Youth Language Fair yearly and perform at various tribal events.

This reading competition is for all Native 4th grade students. Students are encouraged to read 15 of the 2019 Sequoyah OLA books and the list can be found here: https://www.normanpublicschools.org/cms/lib/OK02210265/Centricity/Domain/98/2019%20Sequoyah%20Masterlist.pdf
If you are a parent of a 4th grader, please encourage your student to choose these books to read before the competition. If you would like to help with a book club at your child's school, please contact our office. We will need team sponsors and volunteers for our annual Battle.

Muscogee (Creek) Nation Challenge Bowl

If you have a student in grades 3-12 that would like to compete in the Muscogee (Creek) Challenge Bowl, please contact our office. We have registered 6 teams for the following competitions. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, & transportation will be provided.

Indian Ed. Highlights
They are a national program of volunteers trained in disaster preparedness and emergency response. The students participated in a 20-hour training that taught them how to be instructors for other youth and adults. Upon completion of their training, they are now certified to instruct others on the creation of CERT Teams.

All families have hopes and dreams for their children. Being in school every day enables children to do well in school, and graduate from high school ready for work and/or college.
