Springfield Anchored in Excellence

November News

Springfield Families,

We are so grateful to have your support! Many of you joined us in several events that took place over the month of October, and we love to see your smiling faces. We are truly thankful that you are a part of our Springfield family.

We have several events taking place in the month of November. Our Veteran's Day program will be held November 11. We are extending a warm invitation to our families, especially our Veterans. We truly appreciate your service to our country. We are also hosting our first annual Thanksgiving Lunch with our families. We will host Kindergarten-2nd grade families on November 20 and 3rd-5th grade families on November 21. We would love for you to join us! The cost of the lunch is $5.00 per person. Due to the preparation of food, the last day to purchase tickets is November 15. Please send your form and money to your child's teacher as soon as possible.

Mrs. Davis, our Guidance Counselor, hosted our annual Red Ribbon Week October 28- November 1. Red Ribbon Week is the nation's oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program. Students were immersed in several activities throughout the week pledging to live a drug free life. Each class participated in a door decorating contest. The grade level class winners were: K5: Ms. Strickland, 1st: Mrs. Love, 2nd: Mrs. West 3rd: Mrs. Minor, 4th: Mrs. Pendley, and 5th: Mrs. Greer. At the end of the week, we celebrated our students academically and behaviorally. Super Suns in grades 2nd-5th participated in the 1st Nine Weeks Awards Day. Students were awarded for Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance. The Responsive SHINE committee helped our Super Suns celebrate positive behavior with a movie and dance party.

The Book Fair was also a success! Mrs. Ferguson, our Media Specialist, and our PTO worked throughout the week to assist our students with the book fair. The library will be stocked with new books because of your support of the Book Fair. Our next book fair will be in the Spring.

With thankful hearts, we are excited about what's in store for November. We are wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!
