HAT DAY
A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy Bronco Family!
It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through September. This year seems to be flying by. Learning and fun continues to happen every day at Burleson Elementary.
Homecoming week is coming up the last week of the month (September 27-30). Many other events are already on the calendar too. Please check out the school’s website at meadowisd.net as well as the district’s Facebook page for school news and upcoming events.
Also, please make sure you are signed up for Class Dojo. If you are not, please contact your child’s teacher to get signed up. This a quick and easy way to communicate with the teacher, see what is going on in class, and get any classroom and school news. And, please check your child’s backpack daily for paper notes and information.
We appreciate your child and enjoy having he or she at school each and every day!
If you ever have any questions about what is going on in your child’s classroom, please contact the teacher. Remember, we are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!
Mrs. B
Sra. B

3RD GRADE
Hello 3rd grade readers!
This week we reviewed what we learned last year about the author's purpose within the text. Was the author trying to persuade us, inform us, or entertain us? Now that we are in the 3rd grade, we are diving in deeper to gain a better understanding of the author’s purpose by finding evidence within the text. By breaking down the text and looking for evidence within the texts helps students gain an important reading skill that will help us become better readers and master the STAAR test in May. This week we looked at different examples of non-fiction texts to practice our understanding of the author's purpose and practice using evidence from the text to support our thinking.
In phonics, we reviewed consonant blends and how to read and spell words with different blends. We also look at the K and C spelling rule. Do we use the letter K or the letter C when we hear the /k/ sound, was the question of the week.
In social studies, we worked in groups and created our very own Community Island. Working with their table groups and using prior knowledge, students worked together to create an island with all the needs of a community.
Remember:
1. always try to be at school every day and on time.
2. Study those spelling words (Spelling test every Thursday).
3. Complete homework by Friday.
4. Read AR books everyday (at least 20 minutes a night)
Thank you for all you do,
Ms. Reinhart
Sra. Reinhart
Math:
We are working on adding 3 digit numbers this week. We have added 2 three digit numbers and more than 2 three digit numbers. We are practicing our times 2 facts for this weeks times test. The math fact test will be on Friday. Please make sure you are practicing your facts every night.
Science:
We are finishing up exploring with heat and how it can change the states of matter from a solid to a liquid to a gas. We are also learning that cooling can change the states from a gas to a liquid to a solid.
Reminders:
· Please bring math fact cards to school each day. We use these during stations.
· Math fact homework will be sent home on Tuesdays and Due on Friday!
4th & 5th Grade Math:
- In 4th grade Math, we are working on adding and subtracting and singing about lining up the decimals. 😊
- 5th grade is working on Order of Operations and the rules that we follow to get it done. This group really loves a challenge. (I love it! ❤️)
- We need for the 4th graders and 5th graders to practice multiplication math facts every night for about 10 minutes. The work is becoming more challenging, and the students need to know their math facts to have a smoother learning experience.
- We need all students to be at school every day if possible because we do not want them to miss out on any new math concepts.
Thank you for your support,
Stacy Gamez
(¡Me encanta! ❤️)
