District Staff Provide High School Renewal Update
- College and Career Pathways — Dual Credit and Career and Technical Education (CTE) program courses continue to be offered at all three high schools, with plans for expansion of strategic CTE programs in areas identified for each high school starting next year. Course catalogs are being updated to reflect this expansion.
- Ninth Grade High School Success Teams — Ninth Grade Success Teams at both West Linn and Wilsonville high schools are composed of three core content teachers, special education and bilingual specialists, school counselors, and administrators. These teams are in the pilot phase, with plans to scale across the entire grade level over the next two years. These teams share the same ninth-grade students in their three different content areas, allowing for increased collaboration around instruction as well as student engagement and support strategies.
- Blended/Online Learning — Leadership teams at all three high schools and a team of district administrators have been studying best practices in implementing high-quality blended and online learning opportunities as part of the regular course catalog. Plans are in place to offer at least two blended learning classes in the Fall of 2020-21, with expansion in further years, as well as establishing an online academy and online courses for implementation in 2020-21.
Board Selects Construction Management Firm, Architecture Firms for 2019 Capital Bond
Following a thorough process, the district selected CBRE Heery as the construction management firm that will manage all 2019 bond work.
The district also received and reviewed 12 proposals from qualified architecture firms to design and work through 2019 bond work. Following review by a district selection committee, in addition to in-person interviews, the district selected two Architecture Groups. BORA Architects and IBI Group Architects were approved by the Board as architectural firms available to the district for projects related to the 2019 Capital Bond Program.
The district will now focus on creating master schedules for the 2019 bond before beginning the design and permitting process for select bond projects.
