Day(s) of Service to Honor Dr. King
Martin Luther King Jr. believed that the measure of a person's greatness is in their care for others. He taught us that “Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” ~MLK
Dr. King is recognized and honored every year on the third Monday in January. Many schools and organizations have the day “off” to celebrate. This year, BAE is answering the call to make this a “Day On”. We choose to honor Dr. King through service, and have encouraged our students to honor Dr. King through acts of kindness on Monday, January 18. In addition, our students and staff are participating in a food drive to support our surrounding community. We will be collecting non-perishable food donations throughout next week, until January 22. If your child is attending school face to face and can bring in their donations, that would help support our efforts. If your child attends the virtual classes and you would like to participate, please feel free to drop off your donations between 8:30 and 4:00 to our front office.
Our children are the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and together they help make our world a better place.
Optional Gifted Testing
Optional Gifted In-Person MAP Testing for Virtual Learners - please note the registration deadline is January 22, 2021.
An optional administration of MAP testing for gifted services will be offered for our virtual second through fourth graders on February 4 and 5, 2021. The MAP test takes approximately 45-60 minutes per subject - reading and math; we will offer the reading test on February 4 and the math test on February 5. You may sign your child up for one or both test(s). You can indicate which test your child will take below. If your child is transitioning from the virtual environment to face-to-face learning, they will take the MAP test with their new homeroom class in school so therefore do not need to be signed up for this testing opportunity.
We will adhere to the district's safety protocols and also require that any student who signs up for testing wear a mask. Once we receive all the registrations, groups will be created and staggered times will be assigned to avoid crowds congregating. You will receive an email soon with the time, location, and further instructions for testing. Please note that the parents are responsible for transportation to and from testing.
The email address you use to sign your child up will be the email address used for any communication regarding this optional gifted testing opportunity as well as to notify you on the day of testing when your child is done and ready to be picked up.
If you have questions please contact zellnerm@sycamoreschools.org.
Thank you!

2021 Yearbook
We’re hard at work on
Blue Ash Elementary’s 2020-2021 Yearbook and we need your help!
Due to current restrictions, the yearbook team is unable to photograph day-to-day moments and special school events like we have been able to in the past. We still want to create a yearbook to commemorate this extraordinary year of Virtual and Face-to-Face learning, but we need your help gathering photos.
We’re looking for photographs capturing your student’s school year.
We encourage all BAE students, both Virtual and Face-to-Face, to send in photos.
Please send in photos keeping these requirements in mind:
• File size of at least 1 MB is best
• Send “original size,” if given the option
• Include only current BAE students in your photos
• Please include your student’s grade and learning style (VL or F2F) in the subject line of the email and list his/her first and last name and homeroom teacher in the body of the email.
For example:
To: bae.yearbook.2021@gmail.com
Subject: 1st grade, VL
Hello,
Here are pictures of John Smith in Mrs. Teacher’s
homeroom class.
• If you are submitting pictures of group activities like Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts, please list all students’ first and last names and grade level.
**Please note: we do not include names/labels/captions on candid or group photos in the yearbook, but we must know who is included in the photos to be compliant with privacy practices.
• Email photos to: bae.yearbook.2021@gmail.com
We are excited to see your photos! The yearbook team will try to accommodate as many photos as possible while maintaining a balance between Virtual and Face-to-Face learners as well as a fair representation of all grade levels while working within layout and size restrictions.
Email photos or questions to: bae.yearbook.2021@gmail.com
