Happy Monday!

Our TEKS for the week include:

Humanities:

  • Continue unit on Native cultures in Texas

  • use print or digital resources to determine meaning, syllabication, and pronunciation

  • use context within and beyond a sentence to determine the relevant meaning of unfamiliar words or multiple-meaning words

  • generate questions about text before, during, and after reading to deepen understanding and gain information

  • make connections to personal experiences, ideas in other texts, and society

  • recognize characteristics and structures of argumentative text by: identifying the claim; explaining how the author has used facts for an argument

  • edit drafts using standard English conventions, including complete simple and compound sentences with subject-verb agreement and avoidance of splices, run-ons, and fragments

  • edit drafts using standard English conventions, including punctuation marks, including apostrophes in possessives, commas in compound sentences, and quotation marks in dialogue

  • develop drafts into a focused, structured, and coherent piece of writing by: organizing with purposeful structure, including an introduction, transitions, and a conclusion; and developing an engaging idea with relevant details

  • revise drafts to improve sentence structure and word choice by adding, deleting, combining, and rearranging ideas for coherence and clarity

STEM:

  • represent the value of the digit in whole numbers through 1,000,000,000 and decimals to the hundredths using expanded notation and numerals

  • relate decimals to fractions that name tenths and hundredths

  • compare and order decimals using concrete and visual models to the hundredths

  • relate decimals to fractions that name tenths and hundredths

  • demonstrate that electricity travels in a closed path, creating an electrical circuit
