Important announcements from the SME Principal, PTA & AFB!
Principal Lewis' Sunday Update for the week of 11/30/20
Sunday Call for week of November 30th, 2020
Good evening Sierra Madre Families, this is Mrs. Lewis, your principal. I was very thankful to have this week to spend time with my family and remember how fortunate I am to be a part of such a warm community. If you haven’t already, please take a few moments to have your kiddos record their thankful Flipgrid videos for their teachers on the bottom Welcome to SME Canvas course.
Here are the announcements for this week:
Monday, November 30th-Friday December 3rd is Giving Week. Giving Week is an awareness campaign that is part of Giving Tuesday. Giving Week is a global movement to inspire anyone, anywhere in the world to help support the causes they believe in, especially in our local communities. Please consider supporting our local businesses this week, especially on Tuesday.
Tuesday, December 1st we will have another virtual school tour. Please tell your neighbors to join at 9:30am by clicking on the link in the SMORE.
Please keep your eye out for information from your kiddo’s teacher in regards to upcoming 3 days of asynchronous learning so that the teacher can set up their classroom for possible future return to in person schooling. Dates will range between December 3rd-9th.
Other Announcements
Canvas page updates
This week I’ll be featuring a book called Something Happened in Our Town by Donald Moses and Marianne Celano. Check out my family discussion ideas for after the read aloud.
PUSD Survey
If you have not already done so, please take a moment to fill out the PUSD survey, www.pusd.us/survey, about returning in person or staying remote. If you do not know your kiddos student ID number, and they don’t remember it, you can either look it up on Parent Portal, or you can call the office. In order to accurately set up potential in person cohorts, it is important that I have as many survey answers as possible, and before December 6th.
Prize pick up for past spring Jog-a-thon and 2020 Read-a-thon
Prizes are now in the school office. Please call the office to arrange for pick-up. You will need to wear a mask and to stay in your car when collecting your prizes. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
For more event information, please be sure to visit our school website at sme.pusd.us
We are excited to see all of our students tomorrow morning virtually where we launch our journey of nurturing learners, and growing leaders.
And now, for this week’s riddle.
Why did everyone think the necklace looked suspicious? Don’t forget to look at the very bottom of the SMORE for my riddle answer.
Please continue to stay healthy and safe! Bye Bye!
