News from our Admin Team
Happy November! It's hard to believe 1st quarter is over and reports cards will be issued this week.
We have some excithing things coming up: Harvest parties, book fair, and Thanksgiving break :)
Please make sure your children are bringing coats to school as the weather gets colder for outdoor recess. Also, do your best to have your children on time for school. We start instruction at 9:15 and breakfast is only served until then. We do extend breakfast for late busses only.
Speaking of attendance, thank you for such great attendance for quarter 1. Let's keep it going. The grades in BOLD met our county goal!
PK - 92.1%
3 - 95.7%
5 - 95.7T
SRES all grades = 95.5%
FCPS average for all schools grades PK-5 = 95.0%
Mrs. Bradshaw-Kneller is looking for lots of help for our fall book fair at the end of the month. If you can help her out, please email her ASAP.
Thank you for your partnership as we continue to navigate our school year. We appreciate your support and look forward to Quarter 2.
Family Survey: Dear Spring Ridge Families,
Spring Ridge invites you to participate in our school's 2023-2024 Family Survey. Your feedback is important to us! Your responses will remain anonymous and will be combined with the responses of other families.
To access the survey online, go to: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SysSur-Family_23-24
Important: If you have more than one child enrolled in FCPS, please complete one survey per child.
If you require a paper survey, please contact Spring Ridge.
The survey will remain open until Tuesday, November 21 at 11:59pm EST.
Mr. Bowser and Mrs. Copen
Emergency Cards and Health Forms
FCPS is requiring 100% participating in updating emergency cards and health forms. If you are still getting emails from our system to fill this form out online, please do. We are being asked to hold report cards for Quarter 1 until these are completed.
You will be receiving a One Call Message this week if we still do not have your forms. Thanks!
Car Rider Reminders
- Car riders are to be dropped off at the side of the building in the car rider line, NOT the main entrance.
- To ensure safety, all families are to ‘kiss and ride’, meaning you stay in your vehicle while we help them out. Our staff will happily open the car door so that we can greet your child. This procedure has been put in place to eliminate accidents and injury and to start your child’s day off with a greeting and a smile.
- If you need to come into the building from 8:45-9:15am, please come to the front of the building and park.
- Staff on car rider duty will enter the building @ 9:15am and doors will close.
- If you are dropping off past 9:15am, you must come to the front of the building, come into the office and sign your child in.
- Please respect safety in our parking lots and drive slowly!!
Occasionally, schools may be closed all day, delayed in opening, or close early because of inclement weather. A variety of communication modes are used to announce these closings and/or delays. The most detailed and current information is available on Frederick Cable Channel 18. Information is also provided on several radio stations. These can be found in the Calendar Handbook. You can also receive email notification by registering at Find out First on www.fcps.org.
Appropriate Outer Wear
Cold Days: Students without coats on cold days will remain inside unless a note stating otherwise is given. Our students will go outside if the temperature with wind chill is 20 degrees or higher. Hats are not to be worn at school without administrative approval, nor are students permitted to have hoods up over their head inside the building.
Please do not forget if your child is sent home from school with a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea they should not return until 24 hours AFTER those symptoms stop.

Our 3rd through 5th grade students are learning about friendships and setting boundaries in those friendships with Ms. Ramos this past month. Mr. Drews will be coming into Pre-K through 2nd grade classrooms this month to learn about the Zones of Regulation (PK-1st) and Resilience (2nd).
Mr. Drews will also be coming into 4th and 5th grade classrooms this month to introduce the Kids Like Us program back to SRES this year. Kids Like Us is a program that FCPS collaborates with the Frederick County Health Department to bring to our 4th and 5th grade students that may continue until 12th grade. The small group works with students who have someone close to them actively misusing alcohol and/or drugs or are in recovery and will meet weekly beginning in January. Each student will be receiving an introductory lesson in November and will receive a permission that will be due by Friday, December 1st. Participation is limited, confidential, and optional! If you would like more information on the program, please contact Mr. Drews at email@example.com or contact the KLU program supervisor at (301) 600-1755.
We're looking forward to another exciting month here at Spring Ridge and are preparing to welcome back Mrs. Hanko very soon!
Until next time,
Media Center News
We have been having an amazing time in the Media Center learning and reading this year! Students in all grades have been checking out books, practicing literacy skills, and engaging in fun activities. Please remember that students must return their books in order to get new ones this year. If a student leaves their books at home, they must return them before they can get a new book. The Media Center is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings for any student to do a book checkout!
