April Newsletter 2023
Notes from Ms. Triplett 🐣
As we enter the month of April, our teachers and staff continue to introduce and review rigorous academic skills and content across all grade levels. With state assessments around the corner, it is imperative that our students are present each and every day. State testing will occur on the following dates:
**Reading- April 18
**Science-April 25
**Math May 2
During this testing window, please be sure to support your children by having them at school on time each morning, and are well-rested from the night before.
We thank you in advance for your continued support as our students excel during STAAR Testing.
This week we celebrate Mrs. Jones, my wonderful Assistant Principal and Mrs. Castaneda. Both of these ladies make a difference at TDS. Mrs. Jones, your NBA lunches and PBIS Celebrations promotes the positivity that make TDS a great place for students to learn. Mrs. Castaneda your reading challenges help make reading fun for students. Your creativity never ceases to amaze me.
Always in the best interest of TDS,
Monica Triplett

STAAR RESULTS WHAT DO THEY MEAN?
STAAR Results on May 22 and What Do They Mean
Using the link below, the reports we get from the state on May 22 will look like the tables enclosed. The state will base it on raw scores.
As a campus we will use this information to identify and support our students via intervention. What does intervention look like at TDS, Curriculum Enrichment Class, Before School and After School Tutoring, Two (Fall and Spring) Intersessions and Summer School.
Students in Orange and Yellow will require some intervention and we will work collectively as a campus to identify our students in need of intervention.

NEW STAAR 2.0- WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILD
The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) test is being redesigned to make the test more tightly aligned to the classroom experience.
House Bill 3906 established a “multiple choice cap,” meaning that no more than 75% of points on a STAAR test can be based on multiple choice questions. STAAR 2.0 will have new question types that reflect classroom test questions and allow students more ways to show their understanding.
Sundancer family, if you want more information on STAAR Redesign, please log into the following website:
