Friday, February 28, is the deadline for a parent/guardian, teacher or other school district professional to request acceleration (grade skipping) in math by notifying Mrs. Schneider, the gifted and talented coordinator, in writing. Current kindergarten through sixth grade students, who are highly capable AND high performing students, are eligible to apply. Previously placed students do not need to reapply. Included with this written notification should be a rationale for why this is appropriate for the child. Once notification is received, a rigorous review process begins that incorporates data from student performance, standardized test results and teacher observation. Lake Country School’s math acceleration committee will review the data before the end of this school year for 2020-2021 math class placement. Parents who have questions regarding this process should contact their child’s math/classroom teacher(s) or Mrs. Schneider.

Lynne Marris, Lake Country School's former art teacher, made a special visit a couple weeks ago. Lynn came and spoke to our fifth graders about the history behind the land that our school is on. Mrs. Marris, along with her students at the time, were responsible for the beautiful mural in our front lobby which depicts this history. She went through each part of the mural with the kids, talked about the process of making the mural, and answered questions. A great history lesson, art lesson and just a fun afternoon! Thank you Mrs. Marris!

4K -7th Grade Parent-Teacher Conference Sign-Up

Friday, February 14th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, unless you receive notification from the teacher or if otherwise stated below.

Note: No school for students Friday, Feb. 14th and Monday, Feb. 17th

Parent/Teacher Conference sign-up is done online through Skyward Family Access. Conferences are optional, but are available by parent or teacher request. You may start signing up on Monday, January 27th. Please see below for step by step instructions.

Online Scheduling: please follow these directions at your earliest convenience to schedule conferences.

  1. Login into Skyward Family Access – The Skyward Link can be found on the Lake Country School website.
  2. Using the tabbed headings on the left hand side of the screen, click on Teacher Conferences.
  3. Your student(s) will have a tab to the right of their name entitled All Conferences. Click on that tab.
  4. Next click Select a Time.
  5. Now you can view the open time slots the teacher has available. You may want to go back and view the open time slots for any of your other children to coordinate times. When you are ready to choose a time slot, click Select and then Save.
  6. You will receive a Teacher Conference Sign-up Confirmation email shortly after registering.
  7. If you need to change your time, you will now be able to click Unschedule inside the Teacher Conferences tab. Save and begin again. You can also include a note to your child’s teacher by clicking the Notes option on the right.

Please call Lisa Acton in the school office if you have questions.

4K: Times available are from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

5th thru 7th Grade: These are group conferences so when signing up use the grade level conference option instead of your homeroom teacher. Skyward only shows one of the homeroom teachers (not necessarily yours) attached to this option but all teachers will be meeting with you. You will be contacted by a teacher if a conference is being requested.

8th Grade: In lieu of conferences on February 14, eighth grade students will be presenting research-based projects to parents, fellow Lake Country School students, and community at a later date TBD. As we get closer to the presentation dates, you will receive an email with a flexible schedule and multiple presentation choices. Options will also be available if you are not able to attend. As always, feel free to contact teachers if you feel a conference is necessary.

NOTE: If a teacher is not listed that you would like to meet with, please email that teacher directly to see if they can set up a meeting with you at a different time.

Report cards will be available in Skyward Family Access Thursday, Jan. 23rd

NOTE: This is not being held at Lake Country School. Please click on the link for location information
