NSCAS Testing

It's time for our 3rd through 6th grade classes to begin their NSCAS state assessments. Teachers will be communicating with their families the times and dates of these tests. We ask all families to help make sure their child is well rested, well fed, and has a positive goal to do their best. Talking with your child about this in advance of the test can make a big difference in your child's commitment and concentration.

NSCAS Test Dates

  • Thursday, April 15th - English Language Arts (ELA)
  • Tuesday, April 20th - Math

Please be make every effort to have your child in school during these times to be able to test with their peers by avoiding scheduling appointments or trips. Thank you for your cooperation!

A Window Into The Music Classroom

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been unable to hold our normally scheduled music programs. In order to allow your student their time to shine and let you see what we have been doing in the music classroom this year, we will be providing a “Window Into the Music Classroom!”

On Tuesday, April 13 and Wednesday, April 14, we will be virtually inviting families to watch a live-streamed portion of music class! This is not designed to be a performance. Instead, we are showing what a typical music class might look like and playing a variety of instruments! While it may be disappointing that we can't put on our typical big themed shows, we are pleased to have this opportunity to showcase some of our learning in the midst of a pandemic!

Be on the lookout for virtual invitations sent to families in your email. If you are unable to view it live, a recording will be sent out the following week to give families an opportunity to watch.

ELEMENTARY INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC CELEBRATION CONCERTS!

Band and String Families, we are excited to announce our district wide end of the year celebration concerts! Each performer may have 4 guests in attendance with them at these events! Info about safety requirements and practices will be sent home as the dates approach. Please add the appropriate date and time for your student to your family calendars and reserve the night for this event! We cannot wait to gather together for a live performance to celebrate all that these students have accomplished as musicians throughout this unprecedented year!

7TH GRADE PHYSICALS AND IMMUNIZATIONS REQUIREMENTS

MIDDLE SCHOOL HEALTH PHYSICAL/IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS

By law, all incoming 7th graders must present evidence of having a complete physical examination, updated immunizations (Tdap is required by state law), and a dental exam prior to entering school. For missing immunizations, state law allows us to accept only valid medical exemption forms, signed by a physician or notarized religious exemption forms. A signed waiver form from parents/guardian refusing to provide physical exam documentation is also required. All forms are available from the District’s ABC Welcome Center.

Physicians may print out results of the physical exam and immunizations on their forms, or parents may print the 7th grade health physical exam form from the WMS website found in the “Health Information” area. Exams must be completed anytime after March 1, 2021, and before school starts in the Fall. Students planning to participate in sports must have a physical dated after May 1, 2021.

If your child has a chronic condition such as asthma, diabetes, or epilepsy, a health action plan is required. Asthma action plans must be completed and signed by a doctor and may be found on the WMS website in the “Health Information” area or picked up from the WMS main office. I will be checking my email periodically during the summer. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the main office at WMS for general information.
