Scientific Revolution
Emily M. 3rd period
Who were the people associated with the change?
Johannes Kepler
A mathematician, astronomer, and astrologer. He discovered the laws of planetary motion.
1. The planets move elliptical orbit in one focus with the sun.
2. The time needed to traverse planetary orbit is the same as the sector between the central body.
3. There is an exact relationship between the squares of the planets periodic table and the radius of its orbit.
Galileo Galilei
A very famous astronomer, scientist, also knows as "father of scientific reason."
Nicolaus Copernicus
A mathematician, astronomer, and came up with the idea that the sun was stationary in the center of the universe and the sun revolved around it.
Issac Newton
A very well known mathematician, mostly known for coming up with the laws of motion & publishing a book about the three forces, "The math mathematical principles of natural philosophy." Issac newton died at the age of 84.
What was the change?
There was new discoveries in modern science, mathematics, physics, and astronomy.
For example, they figured out that the sun was not in the middle of the solar system.
How did the change impact society at the time?
As science got more important the church rejected it more, hence science explained things in logic. Although it did bother the church it still benefited from some discoveries helping inspire some of the architecture and the Renaissance art.
How is that change evident in today's modern society?
The discoveries made during the scientific revolution are still very relevant to today, for example we learn about the laws of motion, and we have successfully located where the planets and the sun are.
