What can a doctor do to help with this disorter?

There isn’t really much a doctor can do. but to be prepared for this you can get a test by getting a brain scan or MRI.

How is this disorder treated (how are the people who have this disorder helped to feel better)?

All you can do about it is get treatment supportive and symptomatic. And it is helpful to go to support groups and HPE conferences. So if you know or see someone with HPE try to be supportive.
