Week of January 10-14, 2022

Welcome to our first full week of 2022. It was so good to see everyone after the holidays and to get back into the swing of things. Let’s have a great week!

Monday, January 17th, is Martin Luther King Day. School will be closed for that day.

What We Are Doing This Week

Reading:

This week we will be reading the book “Those Shoes”. It is a story about a boy who wants shoes like everyone else is wearing. During the story he will be learning a lesson about what is really important. With our reading we will be looking at Inferencing and authors purpose.


Phonics:

Lesson 56 - Ghost letter; Digraphs gn, kn, wr

Lesson 57 -Diphthong ou; Digraph ou

Lesson 58 -Diphthong ow; Digraph ow

Lesson 59 - Suffixes er, est, y


Writing:

We will continued working on writing complete sentences. This will include making sure the sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with the proper punctuation.

Cursive: o, c, and q


Grammar:

This week we will be learning about conjunctions (and, but, or, etc.). We will see how they help us to combine two sentences together into one sentence.
