Green Revolution

Founder
Norman Borlaug started The Green Revolution by creating new principles to create successful agriculture. He is credited for saving billions of lives.
What has it done?
- Plants can now be genetically modified to have certain traits and to repel bacteria.
- Farmers are able to replant without having to let the land fallow.
- It opens job openings. These jobs can be agricultural to Industrial.
- Boosts a countries GDP by creating more jobs and having more exported cash crops.
Countries the Green Revolution has saved
Mexico
Borlaug started research here and quickly brought them to self-sufficiency.
India
Borlaug stopped the Bengal Famine and saved many lives. Four million people died of hunger in this tragic period.
Canada
Even a developed country like Canada was helped. They were short agricultural labor and were able to receive it from India because of the skills Borlaug taught the Indian farmers.
