A note from Casey...
Hello Grass Valley Staff!
I hope you had a restful and relaxing weekend. Happy Mother's Day to all of the AMAZING Grass Valley Moms! We have 3 weeks left of "school" - please continue to use these weeks to collect data and determine best practices for Distance Learning for the Fall!

Important Reminders (ALL)
Being Available During the Work Day
As a reminder, unless you are taking personal/sick time, you should be available for phone calls, emails, texts etc. during the work day. If you are not available in the moment for personal reasons, you should follow up within the work day. Emails should be responded to within 24 hours.
Building Open for Staff
To support staff in End of Year building closure, the building will be open on May 18-22. Please observe the following while on campus:
- wear mask/gloves
- maintain social distance (at least 6 feet)
- do NOT congregate together
- Prepare your room for cleaning by custodial this summer (more specifics coming soon!)
- complete CUM folders and return to office
Remote Work Logs
Everyone should have started a "Remote Work Log" on our google classroom site. This should NOT be "turned in" on Google Classroom until May 28, but should be updated DAILY. Be sure to include any leave (sick or personal) that you take.
Chromebook Troubleshooting
Chromebooks will get damaged...
Very soon, parents will likely begin reaching out to you about possible damage that has occurred to Chromebooks. While we know this is a huge bummer, we want to find a middle ground for responding to families. For your info (only), OUSD has already made plans to replace about 20% of lent Chromebooks at each site - so we are ready for this. If families ask about responsibility for damage, remind them that:
- it's important and necessary for students to have Chromebooks to access important learning
- we are expecting that Chromebooks will experience normal "wear and tear" during their loan period, but we ask families to do their best to keep this to a minimum
- damage will be recorded when the Chromebook is returned and we will determine next steps at that point
EL Education Pilot

If the website provides challenging to navigate, check out our OUSD folder with downloaded materials from a sampling of grades.

To access virtual Professional Development resources for teachers:
Distance Learning Best Practices
You are highly encouraged to look through BOTH of these resources:
- Step by Step Guide to Launch & Lead an Equitable Online Classroom Free class, just sign up & watch at your own pace. The whole course is a little over an hour
- DISTANCE LEARNING FOR STEM TEACHERS This has great resources for ALL teachers, not just STEM- created by OUSD teachers.
Tech Support:
- Paula is your first line tech support person at GV - if you need something check-in with her first and she will troubleshoot with you or direct you to other resources.
- However, with this new reality we're in, there is high demand, which will continue to increase and yet there is only one of her. Please attempt to troubleshoot the issues yourself first and if you can't figure it out, then check in with her.
- Do not email the HelpDesk or tech team at OUSD - they are overwhelmed and can't answer all the emails they are currently getting.
Below are some other resources that you can turn to for help:
- Ed Tech Support This has the phone numbers & emails to the support departments of our most commonly used EdTech programs. These people are experts on these programs and can answer your questions about their specific program better than anyone.
- OUSD Teacher Central This site has the latest tech updates and trainings, as well as, links to other useful district info.
Appreciations!
YOU! If you’re reading this, yes, I’m talking about you. For being you, for being apart of this GV family. Thank you <3
