HISD CONNECT UPDATE
Mrs. Sims and Mrs. Perez are Change Agents for, HISD Connect, the new SIS – Student Information System coming this Fall.
In the next few weeks, they will share information about trainings that will be offered this summer and when we return in August.
Next year planning has already begun and master schedules are already being built in the new system.
Department Chairs, there will be teacher trainings offered in June and July that you may want to attend so you are prepared to answer questions from new staff members in August.
Please take a minute to watch the preview video located here: HISD Connect – Let’s Get Connected it will give you information on the new system and what you can expect.
Thanks!
Creating High Expectations for All
I ran across this quick read and many points in the article resonated with me. As I thought about high expectations and rigor, a few thoughts/questions kept swirling around in my head:
- Our campus has become increasingly more diverse in the types of learners that we serve. Are we reaching them all and do we have the same high expectations for all?
- Do we expect high levels of performance for our GT and Non-GT students?
- How do push non-compliant learners achiever higher?
- Do we reduce or water down what we ask of certain students because we do not feel they can succeed?
Many more questions and reflections come to mind as I've read and re-read this article. I hope it's a quick read that also causes you to reflect on your practice and how you are reaching the students in your care. Happy reading!
