Activities Department Receives State & National Recognition

On Friday, Niche released their high school rankings for schools and sports programs across the country and Howell sports programs were recognized as one of the best in the state and country. The Howell Viking sports programs were ranked 2nd in the state among public schools and 7th in the state among all high schools in Missouri. Howell sports programs also received the highest national ranking in school history where the Vikings were ranked 343rd in the country out of over 24,000 high school sports programs. This is a great achievement for Howell programs and signifies the continued effort to strive for excellence in the classroom, in sport and throughout our community.

Thank you to all of our Howell coaches, student-athletes & parents on their dedication and support in making these great honors possible. Howell is truly a special place and the success and honors that we receive are a direct reflection of the student, staff and parent support within our Howell family.

Howell Programs Aim To "R.I.S.E. As One" In 2018-19 School Year

Earlier this summer the Howell Activities Department unveiled their motto for the 2018-19 season. This coming year all Vikings will "R.I.S.E. As One" as they look to continue to represent Howell in a positive way. The goal of the motto is to further focus on the R.I.S.E. core values of Respect, Integrity, Sportsmanship and Excellence while coming together as one Howell family to support each other and lead others to success. We hope to see all Vikings and fans embrace this emphasis on the Howell family and our values this school year while we continue to grow the success of our programs and build on the great experiences that come from involvement in Howell activities, clubs and sports.

Tryout Dates, Times & Locations For Fall Sports Released

All fall sports at Francis Howell High School begin on Monday, August 6th. In order to participate you must have all eligiblity paperwork complete, signed and on file in the Activities Office. Below you can find all times and locations for the first three dates. If any changes would be made prior to August 6th they will be updated on theis page. If you have any questions please contact the head coach of your sport.

Band Hosts Parent Preview

On Friday night the band packed nearly half the stadium for friends and family to get a sneak peak at their show this coming season. You can view short video's from the night by clicking the links below. The Howell Band that has grown to one of the largest in school history has been preparing all summer and finished an intensive camp on Friday night. This fall looks to be one of the strongest performances by our Viking band. Viking fans can see them next at the FHSD Band Preview hosted by Howell on August 30th at 7:00 p.m. Please come out and support these great young men and women as they continue to represent Howell in such a positive way.

Howell Swimmer David Yang Recieves Recognition From Washington University

Congratulations to David Yang for his contributions to “Evaluating mineral proxies of microbial sulphate reduction in Santa Monica Basin sediments.” with 2 Washington University professors in the Students & Teachers as Research Scientists program this summer! David not only excels in the pool for the Vikings but also in the classroom where he is one of the top students in his class. Congratulations to David for his dedication to representing Howell both academically and in sport!

Schark Represents Howell At PBR Futures Game

Congratulations to Matt Schark on being selected to play in the Prep Baseball Report Futures Games. The PBR Futures Games featured the best uncommitted Class of 2020 prospects and select 2021 prospects from 35-plus states from around the country. The event was attended by over 250 college coaches. Congratulations to Matt and thank you to Coach Perkins on making the trip to support him in this prestigious event.

Football Program Participates In Cuts For A Cure

Our Viking football players and staff recently participated in the "Cuts For A Cure" event to support a fellow Viking currently battling cancer. Howell activities, clubs and sports have a storied history of success and are a strong sense of pride for students, staff, parents and alumni. As we begin the 2018-19 school year we hope to continue to build on this success. Howell programs continue to set new records and garner both local, state and national attention. This school year we invite all students, staff, parents and community members to continue to support our programs and to help us represent Howell in a positive way. The goal of the Howell Activities Department is to develop successful young men and women while providing an enjoyable and beneficial experience for all involved. Howell Programs Continue To Support Community

Over the course of the past four years the Howell activities, clubs and sports have not only had success on the field and in the classroom but also in our community. A culture of "giving back" and supporting our community has quickly grown to a Howell tradition. Over the course of the past four years, Howell activities, clubs and sports have served over 27,000 hours, donated over $130,000 and have provided assistance to over 75 organizations in our community and globally. This is an incredible committment to serving others by our student-participants, coaches, sponsors and parents. Thank you to all Vikings that continue to represent Howell in such a positive way.

Russom & May Recognized As Top Sophomore XC Runners In State

Congratulations to Sarah Russom and Maggie May on being named by Mo Mile Split as two of the top four female sophomore cross country runners in the State. You may have seen these two hard working Lady Vikings this summer running the trails and campus of Francis Howell as they prepared for the upcoming season. Viking fans are looking forward to a very exciting cross country season ahead!

Nichols Commits to Drury University

Congratulations to Howell volleyball player Gail Nichols on her committment to further her education and play volleyball at Drury University. Gail is not only an outstanding volleyball player but a great representative of Howell off of the court as well. Viking fans are looking forward to a great season ahead for Gail and the girls volleyball program.

Heismeyer Attends "Night At The Zou"

Howell junior football player Drake Heismeyer recently attended the University of Missouri football program "Night At The Zou." The night was an invitation only event for Missouri football recruits. Earlier this summer Drake received an offer from the University of Missouri to play football. The offer made Drake only the second football player in Howell history to received and SEC football offer. Congratulations to Drake.

Anders Recognized By DECA

Congrats to Howell DECA sponsor Larry Anders! This summer Mr. Anders was named the 2018 Missouri Marketing & Cooperative Education Association (MCEA) Teacher of the Year! Thank you to Mr. Anders for all of his work to make the Howell DECA program the largest in the State.

Howell Alum Boschert Represents Vikings In All-Star Game

Congratulations to Howell alum Whitney Boschert in recently representing Howell in the Missouri vs. Illinois softball all-start game. The former Lady Viking will be heading off to McKendree University this fall to further her educaiton and play softball. Howell Activities Department Unveils New Website

You can now find all of our favorite Howell activities, clubs and sports in one location! The Howell Activities Department recently unveiled it's new website at The website contains links to programs, schedules, calendars and other important information for those wanting to learn more about the many opportunities offered at Howell. You can also download the free app by searching "rschool app" for your iPhone or Android device! The new website and app continues to add more information and features and we hope that this new resource will be helpful to all Vikings and fans.
