Title 1 Services
Alma Public Schools receives Title I funds from the federal government. The purpose of these funds is to provide supplemental support for students who need assistance in order to meet grade-level requirements. We are a Title I Schoolwide program. This enables us to work with students as they demonstrate the need. Below are the supplemental services offered at Hillcrest Elementary:
Small group instruction and interventions are provided within the classroom by highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals.
A Title I teacher may provide lessons and/or small group supplemental instruction in the Title I classroom. This support is happening during structured intervention time each day.
Additional Reading differentiated instruction time is built into the day to provide instruction at students' learning levels.
Transportation Changes
Afternoon Pick-Up Procedures
If you regularly pick-up your student(s) after school, you will receive a copy of a car on a color piece of paper. You can place this in your dashboard when picking up your student(s) so the adults outside can quickly identify where your child is at.
All Kindergarten and 1st grade students will exit the front of the building in 4 groups based on the first initial of their last name:
- A-F: green (Mrs. Hamad)
- G-L: orange (Ms. Bauder)
- M-R: blue/teal (Mrs. Miller)
- S-Z: purple (Mrs. Hancock)
There are also posts placed in the pick-up circle to indicate where these groups will be at.
When parking and walking up to the building, please cross on the south side of building and stand on the sidewalk there. Once your student's group has exited the building, you can walk up to the adult with that group to sign-out your student(s). Please do not gather in front of the car pick-up lane, this makes it very difficult for the students to safely enter their vehicles as they arrive.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Alma Elementary PTO
The Alma Elementary PTO is made up of parents and teachers who want to give students in the three Alma elementary schools the opportunity to participate in enriching experiences and to have the best material and equipment we can provide. Examples of PTO sponsored events include: field trips, assemblies, carnivals, concerts, science alive, reindeer visits, playground equipment, etc.
When parents get connected to the schools, children do better. In addition to the ideas and opinions that we love to hear, the children also benefit from parent volunteers who can donate a little time to make it happen. Please consider attending our monthly meetings and/or volunteering for a particular event when future messages are sent home or contact one of the representatives listed here.
To find out more about what the PTO is doing, please join us at our monthly meetings on the third Monday (usually) of each month at 6:30 pm. Free child care is always provided! The first meeting will be at Luce, the second one at Hillcrest, the third one at Pine and then the rotation begins again. The dates for the PTO meetings are the third Monday of each month unless there is no school on that Monday. If that is the case, then the meeting will be moved to the following Monday.

NWEA
This is a very important test that we use to help measure student progress throughout the year and helps us to guide our instruction to help each student succeed.
