First female aviator to fly alone across the Atlantic Ocean
Amelia was part of the National Women's Party and supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment. When Amelia began to rise to fame she gave lectures and councled young women on choosing career paths and her love of aviation. She taught girls about their potential, and that limits made by men and society did not need to stop them. Amelia also helped found the Ninety Nines, an organization for women pilots that still runs today. Amelia was an amazing women and she changed the way the world views women. She showed women's true potential: strong, independent, and can take charge.
