State & Federal Programs Department
FYI from Deirdre Holloway
News from State and Federal Programs- FBISD
I hope you had a great Spring Break! Communication is very important and my plan is to send you news and updates from my department. I know we have busy schedules and receive a high number of e-mails. My newsletter will be short and to the point.
I. Principals and their administrative assistants have People Soft " Viewing Rights Only" to view the status of their Title 1 budget. This will help them to monitor their own budget at any time. Principals will no longer have to wait on a monthly report from Margie Karami.
II. I e-mailed each principal their budget status as of March 10th, without salary budget included. They should have 80% of their Title 1 6200, 6300, and 6400 spent by the end of March. Some principals are setting funds aside to have a summer camp or plan a summer "end of the year" data evaluation planning meeting with their leadership team.
III. Kangaroo Kamp and Jump Start is in the planning stage. Summer school administrators have been hired and the posting for summer school teachers is posted.
IV. Title 1 Surveys - Due to the confusion with surveys, the district wide K-12 survey will take the place of the Title 1 Survey for DPAC ( District Parent Academic Council) meeting.
V, A meeting will be scheduled soon to meet with Title 1 principals to share new
2017-2018 staffing information.
VI. I would like to invite you to The DPAC ( District Parent Academic Council) meeting on Tuesday, April 18th from 8:00-2:00. Lunch will be served. - Annex
VII. Coordinators Tammu Obey and David Kalinowski monitor the Title 1 Crate
with Plan4Learning. Every Title 1 school has a Title 1 compliance contact person. The contact is responsible for loading documents on a monthly basis. This is important to make sure we are in compliance and we have all documents in one location in case there is a TEA audit. Tammu also conducts campus visits to monitor Title 1 inventory.
VIII. Region 4 - Our Title 1 Region 4 contact person is Danette Thornton. Tammu Obey invited her to the administration building to present to the Title 1 school's contact person on March 6th. Topics discussed: Compliance, ESSA, and budgets.
IX. Please keep in mind that there will be several changes and new rules with ESSA and EDGAR. The goal of the State and Federal Programs Department is to stay on top of new procedures and communicate to Title 1 schools.
