We are Thankful!
This edition of Science News is all about gratitude. We are taking a few moments to pause and reflect on some things for which we are thankful. Science teachers have a heavy lift to accomplish our jobs and simultaneously keep kids safe and challenged. We have spent the fall out and about in classrooms and schools supporting science, and it has been both challenging and fantastic! If you are a science teacher in Northwest Iowa, you are part of a tremendous group of educators working hard to do what is best for students! We appreciate you!! What we have seen has been amazing. Here are a few highlights from the first quarter.
- Elementary teachers reworking their assessments to make them more 3-D.
- High school science teachers are increasing dialogue and student discussion strategies.
- Middle school teachers are working to implement Open SciEd content with fidelity.
- Instructional coaches reaching out to connect to state experts in the Science Writing Heuristic.
- Science teachers are starting to review curriculum resources to prepare for the next adoption cycle.
- Elementary teachers are checking out the StarLab and preparing lessons for students to interact with this incredible resource.
- Administrators and Building Leadership Teams are taking the next steps for science implementation and refinement.
These are only a fraction of the things we have seen! We hope to connect with even more schools and teachers doing science in the coming months. What are you working on? Let us know what you are up to and how we can come alongside to help!
Thankfully,
Shelly and Adam
