A Principal's Perspective
Spring break is here! Based on an article in Inc. magazine, 4 Scientific Reasons Vacations Are Good for Your Health, and a blog by Michael Harris, associate professor of higher education and director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, there are actual benefits to a spring break for our students and for us!
Why is a spring break good for us?
- Is anyone feeling a little stressed? Well, a spring break helps us to reduce stress.
- A break in our regular routine also provides mental health. Our work can be mentally exhausting (as we are all aware). We are always thinking, creating and designing. Our brains are always on! Hopefully, you will step away from school work to rest your brain!
- Physical health is another benefit from a break. A spring break allows opportunities for better sleep, maybe some outdoor, physical activities and rest which all contribute to better cardiovascular health.
With a reduction in stress, a mental break and improved physical health we will appreciate the benefits of a spring break. When we return our batteries will be recharged, we will see improved productivity in our work and we will all have memories that enrich our lives and make life more enjoyable. So here's to spring break!
Be innovative - Design the possibilities!

GP Rodeo Updates
- The staff will not be asked to bake this year. Instead of baked goods the PTO will use other prizes for the Wheel of Sweets. Food trucks will also provide dessert options for families.
- So far we have $11,273 in deposited funds from our rodeo sponsors. We have over $14,000 pledged!
- We will need staff support in volunteering to sell tickets at the ticket booth the day of the rodeo. We also need judges for the cupcake wars. That will be Friday, March 29th, at 4:00. Sign up sheets for ticket sales and judging are in the office workroom. We will provide a jean incentive for participating to celebrate rodeo!
CSISD Campus SUB Incentive
The district has outlined a campus sub incentive plan to hopefully decrease the sub demand across the district. Please see proposed plan below. The plan will begin in January
Each month, campuses will have an opportunity to earn $1,000 for the highest rate of staff attendance
Sick leave and district required activities are excluded
There will be a winner for both Elementary (PK-4) and Secondary (5-12) each month
Campus staff will have input on how to use the money - get creative!
