MEET OUR NEW STUDENT SERVICES COORDINATOR
My name is Miss Riordan.
I grew up in the northern part of Illinois with my two sisters and parents. Growing up, I liked to explore the outdoors with my sisters and play sports like hockey and softball. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work from IUPUI. Before coming to Hershey, I worked for Tippecanoe County Youth Services for 3 and a half years. In my free time, I love to go on camping trips, play and watch sports, and run with my dog, Mogley. Something you may not know about me is that I love breakfast food and could eat it for every meal!
If you have any questions please contact me by email at mmriordan@tsc.k12.in.us or (765) 269-8280 ext. 8282.
STAY INFORMED
If you are signed up for TSC Alerts and Notifications you would have received (via email and/or text) messages about the recent closings and delay, as well as a message sent from Hershey only about a bus delay on Tuesday morning.
PLEASE consider signing up if you did not get all of these messages.

JANUARY - HABIT OF THE MONTH
PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST
This is the perfect month to showcase this habit as January is when we tend to set new goals and resolutions. When we prioritize projects and tasks, we are likely to use our time much more efficiently and effectively, and achieve our end in mind! Ask your child what he has being doing to practice this habit!
TESTING UPDATE
NWEA is underway! All students in kindergarten through tenth grade will take the NWEA assessment three times a year. The winter window is open January 9-26. Results will be emailed to you shortly after the window closes. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher. The report will also be explained during your spring parent/teacher conference the week of March 12.
Coming Soon: The first round of ISTEP runs February 26- March 9. This is a mandatory Indiana State Assessment and must be administered to all students in grades 3-5. The second round runs from April 16- May 4. If is VERY helpful if you do not schedule appointments during this time as students test best when they take the assessment in a familiar environment with their peers. While I am more than happy to administer the make-up exams, I can’t help but feel that students don’t always do their best in this situation. The tests are lengthy, and I find that students are very concerned about what they are missing and work too quickly in order to get back to their classroom. New this year, students will be taking each test on their chromebook- nothing will be done with paper/pencil.
If English is your child’s second language, I will be giving him or her the WIDA test over the next few days. This assessment’s window is open January 9-February 23.
HERSHEY ROCKS
Have you noticed the two large landscaping rocks painted with holiday greetings in the front and the back of the building? One is strategically placed by our flagpole so that our bus riders can see it each day. The other is on the northeast corner of our property so that our car riders will see it.
You can now send a message to a student by “renting” one of the rocks for a day. This is not intended to be a fund raising activity, rather, it is a way to celebrate our Hershey students and also give Mr.Copeland’s Art Leaders an opportunity to use their talents. The cost to rent a rock is $5.00 if you paint it and $10.00 dollars if the Art Leaders paint it for you. Please contact the school office to reserve the rock of your choice and receive approval for your message. Rocks will be reserved on a first come-first served basis.
FROM OUR MEDIA CENTER
Please separate these items when sending to school, or placing the bottle in a sealed bag.
FROM OUR CAFETERIA
TSC schools welcome and enjoy having parents and community members join us for lunch. In order to purchase an adult school lunch we are asking parents to either bring the exact $2.70 to purchase an adult lunch or before you come to lunch with your child set up a parent lunch account on myschoolbucks. Unfortunately, TSC is no longer able to allow adults to use their child's student account due to accounting and record keeping concerns. Adults may contact the nutrition services department and set up an account (765-269-8435)
Fast food is not permitted in the cafeteria at Hershey. If you are coming to have lunch with your child you may order a hot lunch by calling ahead to the office the morning of your visit or bringing a sack lunch from home. TSC and school policy states that any food purchased as "carryout" is considered "fast food".
Thank you for your support of our nutrition services department and we look forward to serving you!
