Super Bowl Sunday and a Big Week Ahead

A fun and exciting Super Bowl! Congratulations to the Eagles fans out there...

This week, we have a PLC Wednesday in the library to describe Illuminate. Kerry, Debi and I were at the Illuminate conference at the end of last week and will share what we learned. Please meet in the library at 2:20pm Wednesday. We will also have an update on our bell schedule conversation from last week.

Rachel, Kevin and I were at the School Culture Summit in San Ramon. Some excellent advice on how to keep school rolling as we get to those difficult days in early spring. Deb Fitch reminded me that we sometimes need to remember how we start the year so the First Day video is here again! (see link below).

Congrats to the girls varsity for clinching the SCL Title this weekend! Red the articles below on their success. And don't forget:

  • College Night for 9-11th Grade - Thursday night (see below)

  • AP/Honors Evening Feb 22nd - see article below

  • See the article below from Edhesive - a case study on Petaluma High School and our successful Computer Science program. Edhesive offers CS curriculum in 33 states across the United States. Way to go, Doug Cox!

Have a great week!

Crab Feed a Smashing Success!

Thank you to everyone who supported our student athletes by showing up at the Annual PHS Athletic Boosters Crab Feed Saturday night at Herzog Hall. The totals are still being tallied but everyone in attendance was struck by the generosity of the whole group. Once we get a number, we'll be sure to let you know, but I'm confident that you guys really came through! An enormous number of parents and community members make this happen every year, but I do want to recognize Barb Brooks for her leadership. Thank you everyone for helping our Trojans!

AP Honors Evening February 22nd

Don't forget to put February 22nd on your calendar. If your student is planning on taking an honors or AP course in the 2018-19 school year, parents need to hear the specifics from staff so you are prepared to support your child. Watch next week's update for more detailed information!

Trojans Hold Off Analy, Clinch SCL Title

Led by Sheriene Arikat's 16 points and Nichole Costa's 14, the Petaluma Varsity Girl's basketball held off the Analy Tigers in Sebastopol to continue their unbeaten run in league. More importantly, the girls clinched the Sonoma County League title. Well done, girls and Coach Jon Ratshin!

The girls entertain Sonoma Valley on Tuesday night at the PHS gym so let's fill it up and congratulate them on their excellent play. They close out the season at Piner on Thursday, then look ahead to the playoffs. Go Trojans!
