District receives $1,200 from Austin Energy school assistance fund
The fund is divided between the eight school districts served by Austin Energy. According to Austin Energy, the allocation of the fund is based on each school district's percentage of the total kilowatt-hours of electricity consumed by the eight school districts. The fund was created by direction of the Austin City Council during deliberations to establish electric rates for Austin Energy. City of Austin utility customers began making donations to the fund in March 2013 through their monthly utility payments. This reimbursement covers the period of October 2018 through August 2019.
