A financial manager is someone who has the responsibility of providing advice to Clients and Colleagues so they can make sound decisions.
Typical work activities
Providing and interpreting financial information, monitoring and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends, analysing change and advising accordingly, formulating strategic and long-term business plans, researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance, analysing competitors and market trends, developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk, conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities, managing a company's financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems.
Salary and Conditions
Starting salaries in the banking and finance sector are as high as £35,000, rising to £45,000 in the investment banking sector. Typical salaries for newly qualified accountants in public service and not-for-profit agencies range between £35,000 and £40,000. Typical salaries for experienced financial managers (ten years plus) in commerce and industry range between £65,000 and £95,000+.
