Don't forget- for current 6th grades who will be going into 7th grade, there is an optional Course Selection meeting on January 26th at either 8:00 am or 6:00 pm in the WWJH Cafeteria. This will be a great meeting to learn more about course options your students will have as then enter junior high.
This week we will be focusing on the Great Expectations Life Principle of Loyalty: faithfulness to others. Below are some guiding questions for you to use when discussing Loyalty with your student this week:

Interim Testing Information
5th & 6th Grade students will be taking the STAAR Interim Assessment over 2 days at the end of January and early February, 2022. This assessment is an online tool used to gauge students' understanding of the statewide curriculum and students' mastery of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) & will help inform teachers by serving as a predictor of students’ performance on the STAAR summative assessments that will be taken in May.
STAAR Interim Assessments are low-stakes tests, not tied to accountability, and not taken for a grade. The data will show students’ strengths in the subject areas tested, as well as opportunities for growth.
Northpointe students will be testing on the following dates:
5th Grade STAAR Math Interim Assessment: Tuesday, January 25 - Wednesday, January 26
6th Grade STAAR Math Interim Assessment: Monday, January 24 - Tuesday, January 25
5th and 6th Grades STAAR Reading Interim Assessment: Monday, January 31 - Tuesday, February 1
It is important that all students are present during these testing dates. We have a limited amount of time to finish all tests and the make-up window will be short. If students are absent, they will be given time to make-up their tests, but this will result in missed classroom instruction.
We are so excited to see the great things our NIS Wildcats will do on this assessment, and we look forward to celebrating their strengths and progress alongside you!! Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions about the STAAR Interim Assessment, please feel free to send an email to robynthrower@tomballisd.net.
Be Present for your Future
Attendance Matters: Consistent attendance and being on time is one of the keys to academic success.
Documentation after an Absence
When a student is absent from school, the student—upon arrival or return to school—must bring a doctor note or note signed by the parent that describes the reason for the absence. The note must be turned in within 3 days of the student’s return to school.
If absences become excessive, the student may be required to submit a doctor’s note verifying illness for the absences to be excused.
The campus will document in its attendance records whether the absence is excused or unexcused.
Students please bring your notes to the front office upon your return to school.
