Updates & Helpful Tips
We are excited about the launch the Substitute Experience Feedback Campaign. Substitute employees can leave feedback regarding their experience substituting at various campuses and teachers can leave feedback in the Absence Management System regarding substitute performance with students.
"Substitute [teachers] will be compensated an additional $10.00/DAY for service at an ACE Campus (click here for a listing of all ACE campuses)."
Teacher vacancies entered into the Absence Management System (formerly Aesop) must align with the vacancies report directly to HCM.
2017-2018 Substitute Employees (Report & Departure) Times
All substitute employee assignments must be recorded in the Absence Management System to maintain account accuracy and assignment integrity.
Substitute Feedback Regarding Campus Substituting Experience
We've collected survey data from over 650 substitutes to create the most effective substitute feedback questions possible, and we have included them below for your convenience.
- Was a clear lesson plan provided?
- Were you provided with appropriate resources to fulfill your job duties (contacts, emergency plan, keys, seating charts, school maps, etc.)?
- How well did you feel welcome and supported by campus staff?
- Did you have support for students with behavioral challenges?
- Would you be interested in returning to this school in the future?
SUBFriendly Campus Suggestions
We've gathered substitute feedback to find out key indicators to improve our efforts. Our goal was to use these results to help our department create an environment that will support our substitutes, campuses, office managers, and administrators. Based on the results we have gathered some campus best practices from STEDI.org, to progress even further.
To be Sub-friendly please be sure to:
- Welcome substitutes on your campus with a warm greeting.
- Acknowledge substitute questions and concerns.
- Request Dallas ISD Substitute Badge with employee ID number.
- Ensure the substitute employee clock-in and out for each assignment.
- Thank the substitute employee for their day of service.
SUBReady Campus Suggestions
To be Sub-ready please be sure to provide:
- School maps and directions to the classroom and other important places
- Contact information for nurses, assistant principals, and other important contacts
- Keys to classroom
- Bell schedules and school calendars
- Necessary supplies
- Seating charts
- Lesson plans
- Emergency plans
- Class and school rules
- Dismissal expectations
Absence Management Campus Based Teacher Training
We understand that Absence Management (Aesop) is a vast program, and that you may be tasked with training your employees on using it. For your convenience we've provided a few step-by-step guides, so that you can build your own training.
STAFF LIST: Provide each staff member a copy of their Absent Management USERNAME & PIN. This information is located in the campus user portal under (REPORTS<STAFF LIST). Filter by active employee only.
ACCEPTABLE EMPLOYEE TITLES IN THE ABSENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (NEW): Staff members can management their official titles in their Absent Management account this school year! As a beginning of the school activity, have each staff member log-into their portal. ACCOUNT<TITLE<ADJUST THE TITLE, according to the acceptable employee titles (click HERE to view titles).
The above activity is critical to reduce confusion with substitute employees accepting the correct assignment at the campus!
