Hello Glennwood Families!
We have had a wonderful week of learning at Glennwood! I am sharing the information with you again about COVID-19 testing resuming at Glennwood next week just in case you missed the eBlast we sent yesterday to families.
We will resume weekly COVID-19 testing at our school next week (January 25th) with our new provider, Mako Medical. Please indicate your intent to participate using this form even if you consented previously for school-based weekly testing. Embedded in the form is a link to register with Mako Medical. The link is specific to our school. You will need to register via the school-specific Mako link even if you registered for testing at the Wilson Center.
Testing will be conducted weekly on Tuesdays at 1:15 pm. Students will be administered a rapid antigen test. If they test positive, they will return to the testing location for a PCR test. You will receive results via text/email. If your child tests positive, you will also be contacted by the school. All students testing positive for COVID-19 will need to isolate following the CSD isolation procedures. If you have any questions contact Nurse Beth Barrington.
The GL PTA Read-a-Thon is halfway to its goal! Thank you to all who are participating and to our amazing PTA for sponsoring it. This is our biggest fundraiser for the school each year. Let's finish strong on January 24th and keep reading!
Warmest Regards,
Holly M. Brookins, PhD
Principal
Glennwood Elementary School
Important Updates from Nurse Beth
Symptoms
Keep your child at home if they are experiencing ANY symptoms. This includes fever, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, etc. Keeping everyone safe is our highest priority, and we will not be able to allow symptomatic students to remain in school, even with a recent negative COVID-19 test. If you are contacted by Nurse Beth, please have arrangements in place to have your child picked up from school within one hour.
Covid testing is optional for students beginning again weekly at Glennwood on Tuesday, January 25th. (See registration information in Dr. Brookins' greeting above.) CSD will also still offer Covid testing to students and staff Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 AM at the Wilson Center. If your student is testing to return to school from quarantine or illness, please provide a copy of the test (email or paper copy is acceptable) before they return.
If your student has been exposed or has tested positive for Covid 19, please complete THIS FORM, and I will contact you to discuss dates of isolation and quarantine. Here is a link to the CSD current isolation and quarantine protocol.
COVID-19 Vaccination
If your child has completed their COVID-19 vaccination series (both shots), you can now upload it into the parent portal in Infinite Campus. If you are unable to upload it, you can email me (ebarrington@csdecatur.net) with a copy of the vaccination card. Once I receive the email, I will be able to update the information in Infinite Campus. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out through email or by calling the school at (404)370-4435.

2022 GL Read-a-Thon Continues!
The Glennwood Read-a-Thon, “Slide Into A Good Book,” is well underway! Thanks to everyone who came out to the Romp + Read kickoff event. We are already more than halfway to our minutes and fundraising goals! Let's keep it up, Eagles!
Read-a-Thon is the main PTA fundraiser this year, so we hope you will participate! Funds raised by Read-a-Thon will help support Glennwood, including supplies needed for teachers, staff, and students, teacher innovation grants, school improvements, teacher appreciation events and gifts, school supply kits and Kindergarten t-shirts, and much more!
Don't forget to log your daily minutes here: https://glennwoodpta.org/. If you need help logging in or creating a campaign, please contact Jen Lewin at jsimmenlewin@gmail.com. Students can share their campaign site via email and/or on social media with friends and family who wish to sponsor and donate.
Prizes will be awarded to top readers and the class that reads the most minutes in each grade! Winners will be announced at Community Circle on January 28! Fun goodies will also be awarded for participation. Thank you so much for your participation in this worthwhile event and your support for our school!

Food Allergen Information from CSD School Nutrition
We are excited to welcome back all of our students in 2022! There is a new document on the "Special Diets" tab of the CSD Nutrition webpage called, "Allergens by Recipe," where we have created a chart for parents and students to quickly check for possible food allergens. Note: The allergens identified are the "big 8 allergens," which include wheat, milk, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, and fish/shellfish. There are more allergens, but these are the critical ones identified in school nutrition.
If your student has a food allergy, we encourage you to check out the list and speak with them about the importance of advocating for themself in any situation where food is being served to them.
Don't forget that meals are still at no cost to our students until the end of this school year!
Wilson Center Department Advisory Committees
We are still looking for members of the CSD community to serve on advisory committees for the various departments at the Wilson School Support Center. If you are interested in serving on one of these committees, please fill out this form. Thank you in advance for your willingness to serve!
