ELM MIDDLE SCHOOL’S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
May 13, 2022
Principal's Message
Greetings Elm Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful week! What an amazing week at Elm!!! We had Go To School Night where we welcomed many new and returning families to our school community and celebrated with a splash of color at our Color Extravaganza! We wrapped up the week with the time honored tradition of the EPHS Pep Band/Choir Tour and 8th grade Career Day!!!
We're round the corner on the end of the year and buckling down on academics should be the top priority for all of our students! Utilize advisory to check-in with teachers, make up assignements, re-take tests and go to homework club for extra help!!! We're almost there!
Addtionally, next Friday, May 20th is an Early Release! Plan accordingly as arrival will be later than usual! We can't wait for all of our 8th grade events next week and Spirit Week to top it off!!! Here we go!!!!
Please take a few minutes and read through this week’s Courier! As always, should you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. Stay safe! #TeamElmStrong

Bark Alerts-Technology Usage Alerts for Students
When schools give students access to devices and online accounts, an incredible world of learning opportunities opens up — as well as potential dangers. Digital safety is critically important to Elm Middle School which is why we use Bark for Schools to help us protect our students both online and in real life.
Bark monitors for signs of potential issues like:
Cyberbullying
Suicidal ideation
Sexual predators
Threats of violence
And more
As a school, we receive alerts that we can respond to during the school day, however we know that students use their school-issued accounts both at school and at home, and families are often in a better position to respond to urgent alerts after hours, on weekends, and during breaks. In the coming days, you will receive an invitation to create your free account for the Bark for Schools Parent Portal. As soon as you opt-in, you’ll be able to receive after-hours alerts if Bark detects potentially time-sensitive issues.
Please see this letter for more information and reach out if you have any questions!
