Be prepared for inclement weather
In the event that inclement weather closes schools across the district, Garfield Re-2 will do its best to communicate the closure in a timely manner.
The best way to be prepared is to be sure that we have updated contact information for you in PowerSchool. Please complete the online registration portals here.
During severe weather events, evaluation for school closure begins the evening prior and continues at about 4:00 a.m. with conversations between Colorado Department of Transportation, Garfield County Road and Bridge, the Director of Transportation, the Director of Communication, the Superintendent and an evaluation of current and future weather information. Garfield Re-2 School District has a practice of making the determination of a school closure by approximately 5 a.m.

Coronavirus NOT in Colorado. Wash your hands, stay informed oh, and wash your hands!
From the Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response
Dear School Health and Childcare Providers,
You have likely heard of the outbreak of pneumonia that is currently being investigated primarily in China. The outbreak has been associated with a novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
Though Colorado has no cases to date of the new coronavirus, 2019-nCoV, we’re taking it very seriously, closely monitoring the outbreak and developing Colorado’s response. . . .We are also working closely with health care providers and local public health agencies across the state, sharing reporting, testing and infection control guidance.
We understand that new viruses like this can be worrisome, especially to students, parents, and staff.
It is important to remind parents and students who are worried about 2019-nCoV or any respiratory virus, that they can protect themselves by practicing good health hygiene:
· wash your hands
· cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing
· stay away from others who are ill
· stay home when you’re sick
