Please Stop Laughing at Me
Summary
Please Stop Laughing at Me was a sad book. This girl named Jodee Blanco who seems to be able to never get away with getting bullied. She switches schools to different places trying to get away from all of it. Jodee also seems to not be able to make a lot of friends because every friend she has had has turned on her and has joined bullying Jodee. Jodee makes some friends and she keeps them around because she really needed so friends around to help her. But toward the end of the book at the school's reunion everyone that used to bully Jodee seems to have realized it was wrong of them to do they all apologized to Jodee for their behavior.
Character Analysis
Jodee Blanco is an 13 year old girl who believes she is an ugly duckling because of all the bullying that has happened to her for a long time. She wants to be a normal girl with her everyday dreams and wishes. Her hobbies are helping other people public speaking and reading. Her hair is black and she is skinny and wears baggy clothing all the time. she has brown eyes and a big smile. "What a desperate, pathetic fool I was. Time after time, my "friends" had shown me their true colors. Yet, I still wanted to believe they were sorry for causing me pain. pg. 128"
Conflict/Resolution
The conflict in this book is character vs. self, and character vs. character. She was having character vs. character problems because she kept getting bullied and she had no idea why. She kept having character vs. self because she would always think that she wasn't good enough because she kept getting bullied and she never had any friends. She never really resolved the problem but at the end of the story everyone started looking at her differently and everyone was sorry for what they have put her through.
Theme
I think the theme of this book could be never back down and stop bullying. I think it should be never back down because Jodee always got bullied for doing nothing and she never had any friends to help her. So she was always strong and she didn't back down and showed everyone that she was scared. I think the theme should be stop bulling because its not nice to judge people by what they look like and Jodee didn't deserve anything that happened to her she was just sticking up for what she believes is wrong and everyone just started bulling her.
Textual Evidence
"What a desperate, pathetic fool I was. Time after time, my "friends" had shown me their true colors. Yet, I still wanted to believe they were sorry for causing me pain. pg. 128" This is my favorite quote from the book because it shows how everyone pretended to be her friend but they all just turned on her and she didn't have anyone. It also shows how she hated herself because she thought she was a pathetic fool because she actually believed that everyone was her friend.
Book Review
Id rate this book a 3-5. I rated it this because i thought the book was really boring. I also thought it was really sad and i almost cried because it reminded me of what i used to go through. I wouldn't say this book is horrible because its a true story but i didn't really like it because it was really sad and it wasn't a book that i would usually read so it wasn't really interesting .

stop the bullying
Speak up
If you know someone that is getting bullied speak up.
Bullying is stupid
Bullying makes people weak and then everyone can see that you are a weak person that makes everyone else feel bad. Then that person starts to hate themselves to.
