Suicide
Response, Awareness and Prevention (RAP)
Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death in youth ages 12-18.
Schools are the most accessible point of contact for children and adolescents at risk for suicide.
Suicide has a profound effect on the school community.
Please join us as we discuss and identify strategies for providing additional support to the schools in Genesee County.
Participants will
• Learn the signs and symptoms of suicide
• Identify suicide prevention strategies
• Determine additional resources necessary for suicide prevention and response
• Develop an "Immediate Suicide Response Protocol" for their school district
Who should attend?
This training will provide an opportunity for district staff to begin to develop a draft of the Suicide response plan. It is recommended that the district send at least two from the district - one of which may be a district leader responsible for crisis planning and a second staff member who is either a counselor or social worker at the secondary level.
