October 21, 2023
Dear Families,
We had a great week! We had our Anti-Bullying Spirit Week and celebrated Superhero Day, Twin Day, Unity Day, Pajama Day, and Jersey Day. We also had our first grade field trip to Kerby's Pumpkin Patch, our monthly PTA meeting and our kindergarten and first grade students had a visit from the fire department as part of October Fire Safety Month.
This next week we have our Pennies for Playgrounds Fundraiser sponsored by our student council. Each day students may bring in coins. Monday is pennies, Tuesday is nickels, Wednesday is dimes, Thursday is quarters, and Friday is biils. Teachers will count totals and the winning class will receive a popsicle party!
This week we also have our Lansing School District Health & Wellness Committee meeting on Tuesday, our PTA Skate Night & food donation on Wednesday, our monthly LES Site Council meeting on Thursday, and our LES Perseverance Pride Assembly and Occupational Therapist Appreciation Day on Friday. Please see our Skate Night flyer below. Everyone is welcome!
A few reminders:
As the weather is changing it is important that students are dressed to be outdoors during recess. If your student is in need of winter clothing, please reach out to our counselors Christine.bactel@usd469.net or Tami.scrivo@usd469.net
We have several jackets and sweaters in the lost and found. Please see pictures below. Our lost and found is in the south side of the building by the office.
Bagtags: Students should now have tags on their backpacks indicating how they are going home. Please do not remove these. This assists us in ensuring your student is in the correct location at dismissal.
Bus riders: If your student is a bus rider, I strongly encourage you to get the bus compass app. This will allow you to monitor bus location in real time.
Visitors: We would like to remind families that all visitors must enter and sign in through the office.
Our Schedule: Our school day is from 8:30-3:30 (M-W, & F) and 9:30-3:30 on Late Start Thursdays (if there are 3 or more days of school). Students are considered tardy if they arrive at school after 8:30 (M-W, & F) and 9:30 on Late Start Thursdays. If your student(s) is going to be late or absent please call us at 913-727-1128.
Arrival & Dismissal Map: Our updated traffic pattern map is attached below. 1st grade car riders will arrive on the NORTH side of the building and dismiss on the NORTH side. Please see our traffic map below.
Bus transportation: must be arranged by families. Please arrange bus transportation using the following link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScEsJBUyk0ji1m--u_x6dAYIfDmCyf0ndjZsYQgH6F-4N7PTg/viewform. Please see more bus information below.
