Building Behaviors for Success
CPE Credit: 6 hours
Audience: K-8
This workshop will be a hands-on, exciting collaboration. Participants will work together to learn how to establish positive classroom communities. Strategies and ideas to build engagement, safety and security, belonging, and awareness will be covered. You will walk away with ready-to-use tools and activities that will transform your classroom culture.
Tell Your Story
CPE Credit: 3 hours
Audience: Open
This session will talk about messaging, photography, video production, media relations, keeping GISD in the public eye, every employees' role as an ambassador, and more! You'll also learn to put theory into action! Learn how to take better photos and video with your phone (and DSLR camera) to highlight the wonderful things happening in GISD. It's best to have a plan in place, especially when recording a video for the district or your campus. Run through a list of preproduction tips that will set you on the path to better videos! Have you been thinking of doing Facebook Live videos on your campus account? Learn some best practices that can help you get started! Pick up some quick tips about posting on social media!
Dealing With an Angry Public
CPE Credit: 3 hours
Audience: Open
This course will cover the art of diplomacy and de-escalating conflict, rather than escalating it. Includes resources from Crucial Conversations, media video clips, and more. Come learn how to be a part of positive communication and resolutions.
Professionalism and Ethics
CPE Credit: 3 hours
Audience: Open
The purpose of the Professionalism and Ethics training is to provide GISD educators and staff with an understanding and awareness of what behavior constitutes inappropriate educator conduct, as well as strategies to recognize, prevent, and respond to inappropriate conduct.
Freckle Math & Reading Training
CPE Credit: 3 hours
Audience: All K-8 Math, Reading, and Intervention
This workshop will cover all of the features of Freckle, a practice website (and app) for grades K–8 that addresses standards-based skills and concepts in core subject areas. Freckle can help you reach each of your students at their own level. Freckle is a differentiation platform made for teachers by teachers. This tool will be an incredible resource for you and your students!
Writing Across the Curriculum
CPE Credit: 6 hours
Audience: All grades, core content areas
This workshop will begin with a joint session covering the generalities of writing across the curriculum. It will include breakout sessions for planning the implementation of writing, creating prompts, and crafting formative assessment writing questions for the first 2-4 weeks of school. There will be time to share products, ideas, and takeaways from across the various subject/grade levels. Attendees will leave with 2-4+ weeks of writing strategies, questions, prompts, etc. aligned to their pacing guides.
A Novel Idea - How to Incorporate Novels Successfully in the Classroom
When: June 9th and July 14th

Guided Math
CPE credit: 3 hours
Audience: K-5
This workshop will cover guided math small group expectations, centers, procedures and processes. Teachers will participate in a simulated lesson using guided math. Teachers will leave with a better understanding of what guided math is and how to implement it successfully in their classroom routines.
Guided Reading & DRA
CPE Credit: 3 hours
Audience: K-5
This workshop will cover guided reading expectations, small groups, centers, procedures, and processes, timing, and more. Teachers will see effective guided reading modeled. Teachers will leave with a better understanding of how to successfully implement the guided reading framework into their classes. In addition, the learning will cover DRA and how DRA data informs guided reading.
From Curriculum Guides to Thinking Like a Scientist
CPE Credit: 6 hours
Audience: K-5
This workshop will begin with a joint session in the morning taking attendees through an in-depth look at the science curriculum pacing guides as well as (Kinder - 5th) vertical alignment. Special attention will be given to understanding the purpose behind each section of the curriculum pacing guide and how to use it in planning lessons. The afternoon session will include an introduction to the CER technique and breakout sessions for how to guide students into thinking like a scientist. Attendees will leave with 2-4+ weeks of collaboratively built lessons aligned to their pacing guides.

This workshop will provide engaging, useful ways to build interactive notebooks for elementary Science. Whether you are getting started with interactive notebooks, or you are wanting ideas to extend on what you are already doing, this workshop will give you tips and ideas to make interactive notebooks a successful and useful tool in your classroom. You will have an opportunity to begin a model notebook full of exemplars for your class.

Gomez & Gomez Best Practices

This session is targeted at Bilingual Teachers. The session will serve as a refresher course and examine the application and alignment of district goals for the academic and linguistic growth of English Learners.
Pre-K: The First Stop in SIOP Success
CPE Credit: 6 hours
Audience: Pre-K
This course is designed for all Pre-K teachers. Pre-K is the foundation for all future skills; this is true for SIOP as well. This course will provide insight into how SIOP applies at the earliest stages of learning. Participants will learn how to adapt the SIOP framework to fit their students' levels and needs. The session will also include time to create and prepare language and literacy tools for the classroom.
Dyslexia: A TEA Professional Learning Course

The purpose of this course is to empower educators to serve and advocate for students with or at risk for dyslexia. The course consists of four modules. In the first module, you will learn more about what dyslexia is and how it impacts student learning. In the second module, you will explore effective schoolwide practices for the identification and support of students with dyslexia. In the next module, you will learn more about how to support students with dyslexia in the classroom through systematic, explicit, and evidence-based instruction designed to meet the needs of students with dyslexia. In the last module - Taking Action - you will reflect on your learning, create a personal action plan, and review resources. A participant handbook is provided to guide participant learning.
Create Stations with Seesaw

This course will cover ways to use Seesaw as a station. See examples of how teachers are using Seesaw as a station and create station activities to review concepts of the first 6 weeks TEKS.
Interactive Lessons with Active Inspire & Google Slides

This course will cover how to use Active Inspire to make interactive lessons for whole group, small groups, or stations. Also, explore google slides for lesson openers, reviews, or stations. Create activities to take with you for the next school year.

This workshop will be a hands-on course that teaches the GISD specific techniques and strategies for developing athletic ability and sport-specific drills that teach fundamental skills. This session will also provide an opportunity for collaboration and interaction between our GHS head Coaches and the JV, 9th, and GMS coaches.
