Hello Santana Families!

Happy Spring Break! Enjoy the time off with your students, we hope you have a relaxing and restful week off. For our families that have students in Expanded Learning, please don't forget that we will not have Expanded Learning today, Friday, 3/24. Thanks so much for helping us make sure your students are picked up in time!

Friday, April 7, 2023 will be a MINIMUM DAY for Santiago. We also will be hosting an assembly this day for all students. Please read the information below regarding the assembly, and complete the Google Form if needed. Thank you!

Throughout the school year, Santiago's expectations have been posted on our school website, but it's an important time of the year to remind students about them now. Please spend some time reviewing our EXPECTATIONS with your Santana(s) so that there are no questions about uniforms, free dress guidelines, cell phone policies, etc!

After we return from Spring Break, our campus will be in full "Do Your Best On The Test" mode! SBAC testing will be here before we know it, and we want to make sure that everyone is well prepared to do just that. Stay tuned for more information about how to best support your students with state testing!

Parents, if you would like to get involved around campus, please consider reading about opportunities through PTSA down below. We need help, and would love any support you can give us! (Details about PTSA opportunities below.)

If you need help finding our calendar, here it is, and here is our bell schedule!

Building Resilience in Youth Assembly (Friday, April 7, 2023)

Please read the information below, and complete the Google Form ONLY IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO OPT YOUR STUDENT(S) OUT OF THE ASSEMBLY!

Description of Assembly:

Early intervention drug education teaches our students on the dangers of substance use, equips them with effective refusal skills to implement when confronted with negative peer pressures, and provides them with a foundation of knowledge. We are fortunate to have the Elks Lodge of Orange sponsor Mr. Ray Lozano who is a national drug and substance prevention specialist and youth speaker.

Your child will have the opportunity to participate in an educational assembly on April 7, 2023 at 9:00 AM in the amphitheater. Mr. Lozano will present “Building Resilience in Youth”, which focuses on the known and unknown talents of every young person. In this assembly, Mr. Lozano explains how young people may not know what their talents are but with time and care can grow into something amazing just like a redwood tree. Students will understand why it is so important to protect that talent, what steps they can harness to take that talent from an unknown idea to a reality, and how sometimes drugs and alcohol may attempt to take that talent away.

Visit http://www.raylozano.com to learn more about Mr. Lozano and his work before allowing your child to participate. All students will participate in the presentation unless the opt-out form is submitted to the office. You can find that form by clicking the link below. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your cooperation.
