Peek at the Week
March 16-28
Edgelea Staff Padlet.
A Heartfelt THANK YOU!
Thank you for coming together, supporting each other, and for caring for our students on Friday. Although it was a somewhat stressful, overall , it was a successful, productive day! It felt great to know that our students will have their iPads, chargers, and necessary materials for continual learning opportunities for the next few weeks. Teachers, Title 1 staff, support staff, tech team, central office.....you were AWESOME! Thank you for pulling together and working tirelessly to make it happen for the kiddos! Teamwork at its very best!
Uplifting stories....
I had two different parents phone and offer financial assistance, gift cards, and food to our students/families who might be facing financial hardships because of the school shutdown.
Another dad overheard a conversation I was having with a stressed parent. She mentioned that she was $19 behind on her daughter's lunch fees. This dad stepped up and paid the lunch account.
It warms your heart to see the very best come out in people especially during difficult times.
Wow! What a week!
Thank you to the kindergarten team of Kristina, Olivia, Staci, Jordan, Angie, Stephanie, and Penny as well as Fernando, Tammy G., Kelly Johnston, Sandy Williams, and Mandy Fisher for all of your help with kindergarten round up. It was a successful evening with 51 students registering...average number for Edgelea
The second grade did an amazing job with their Wizard of Oz musical. Deb Miller brings out the very best talent in our students...Everyone says, "How does she do it?" Thank you to Deb and the Second Grade Staff. It truly brought joy and smiles during a difficult week.
The art show was amazing. A BIG THANK YOU to our wonderful art teachers...Jessica and Rachel. We appreciate all of your time and effort to make the art show happen.
And can you believe we did all of this with daylight savings time

Youth Suicide Awareness Training
PLEASE CONSIDER THIS VERY IMPORTANT TRAINING-Especially since you have some extra time on your hands.
From Dr. John Layton
Indiana Code 20-28-3-6 requires all principals, superintendents, teachers, librarians, counselors, and nurses of grades 5-12 configured schools to be trained in Youth Suicide Awareness Prevention Training. This was discussed with the teachers association this past Wednesday. Accordingly, we will unlock the training via Safe Schools later today and it will appear in grades 5-12 teachers training plans as a mandatory training. It will be open until the last day of school. The training is 2 hours in length but is made up of 14 short modules so one can complete a module log out and come back another time to continue working through other modules.
For K-4 teachers who want to voluntarily complete this important training, log on to your Safe Schools account, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Interested in Extra Training. On the next page scroll down and look for the heading on the right called Social and Behavioral and click on it. Scroll to the very bottom of that page and click on Youth Suicide: Awareness Prevention and Postvention. Choose the Jason Flatt Act version of the training. https://lsc-in.safeschools.com/login

STOP the BLEED training
Nurse Ashley Sainer will be offering first aid training called Stop the Bleed. Staff will learn how to stop the bleed in case of a major catastrophe. While more than 1 million people have now been trained to Stop the Bleed, that’s just a start. The goal is to train 200 million. Why? Because the purpose of the Stop the Bleed campaign is to make our nation more resilient by better preparing the public to save lives if people nearby are severely bleeding. This preparation is being done by raising awareness and teaching people how to learn three quick actions to control serious bleeding. We will host this 30-45 min. training on April 2 at Edgelea. Please sign up on Ashley's door if you would like to participate.
Cancelled but will be rescheduled.
