It's Staff Appreciation Week!!
It's our annual Staff Appreciation Week! As part of our Glenview tradition, parents will provide a potluck lunch for staff this week.
We hope that you enjoy the food that the Glenview families prepare during teacher appreciation week.
Teacher appreciation week comes on the heels of Earth Day. In honor of that, we are asking if teachers could bring their own plates and eating utensils.
We realize that the sink does not work, so it also means taking home dirty dishes. If this works for you, the earth thanks you! And of course if you forget or not able to do this, we will have paper plates available.

Summer School Options Abound
Oakland Freedom Schools
Oakland Freedom School will be held at Glenview at Santa Fe this year. Please identify students who would benefit from this learning opportunity and connect with their parents. Info. below.
Registration for Oakland Freedom Schools 2018 is NOW OPEN. Registration will close Tuesday, May 22nd, 2018.
Program this year will run from June 18-July 27th, 2018 at the following locations:
West Oakland- West Oakland Middle School; 991 14th Street, Oakland 94607
North Oakland- Glenview Elementary at Santa Fe; 915 54th Street, Oakland 94608
East Oakland- Roses in Concrete; 4551 Steele Street, Oakland 94619
There will be a donation fee of $250 per child for the summer due at the time of registration, and there is a scholarship option. We are also accepting snack and water donations again this year.

Brewer Summer School
Oakland Fine Arts Summer School
Below you will find a student application for the Oakland Fine Arts Summer School(OFASS) program which is a 19-day program, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., located at Sankofa Academy, 581-61st Street, Oakland, CA.
The program is open to all K-5 students (not TK). There are a limited number of available slots. Maximum enrollment is 220 students. Second grade slots are almost filled.
Please inform parents and teachers. You are asked to reproduce copies for interested parents to pick-up in the school office or from the classroom teacher. Let parents know that students must have good attendance. Students that miss more than three days will be dropped from the program. Completed applications are to be taken to Studio One in North Oakland, not to the child’s home school. Studio One’s address is on the application.
Your assistance in disseminating this information will be greatly appreciated.
You are invited to attend the culminating program to see your students shine. It will be Thursday, July 12th, time TBD.
We look forward to an exciting 19 days with students from all over the City of Oakland.

Extra Recess? Try something else....
Do not save extra incentive recess for the end of the day and keep it for less than 10 minutes.
Remember....long periods of unstructured lightly supervised play time often ends in conflict and "drama"....it's just not worth it.
