What is asthma?

Asthma is a chronic, or long-term, disease that inflames and narrows the airways of your lungs. Asthma causes a variety of symptoms that can worsen at any time, making breathing difficult. This disease is not contagious.

Affects and causes of disease

This disease affects a person's ability to breathe, and do certain physical activities. This disease can be caused by obesity or inherited.


Tobacco and smoking can have a tremendously negative effect on asthma. It can make it even harder to breathe than it already is. It can also blacken your lungs.

Cures/ways to manage disease

There is not a cure for this disease, but people can manage it by using an inhaler or medication. It can be very easily controlled.
