A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL SCRIVO
As I am sure you are now aware, Governor Whitmer issued an Executive Order yesterday with the directive for K-12 public school buildings to close for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. This order extends our current school building closure from now through June 2020.
This is a disappointment to many of our students, staff and families, but we must do what is best to protect the safety of everyone in our community during these uncertain times.
I know that many of you have questions regarding how this will impact our scheduled events and Cloud learning for the remainder of the school year. I do not have all the answers for you right now, but I will try and answer as many as I can.
Parents please join us for our first Scotch Virtual Connect. There will be two opportunities for parents to participate. The date and times for both meetings are listed below and the Zoom links will follow in an email to parent/s next week.
Friday, April 17th at 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
Friday, April 17th at 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Save the dat and I hope to see you on Friday, April 17, 2020.

5TH GRADE LITTLE CAESAR FUNDRAISER UPDATE
Due to Governor Whitmer's recent announcement regarding the cancellation of in-person school for the duration of the school year, the decision has been made to cancel the Little Caesar's Pizza Kit orders.
Online Orders: Little Caesars will facilitate refunds for online orders. The credit card used for the original order is the one that will receive the credit (refund). The refunds could take up to 2-3 business days to be processed.
Manual Orders:The Scotch PTO will issue checks for the manual orders. Each check will be made payable to the parent/guardian name that was listed on the order form. Checks will be mailed to the student's address listed in Powerschool. If this information is not correct, please contact Kelly Robrahn, PTO Treasurer, at robrahnfam@gmail.com with the correct contact information by Wednesday, April 8th.
After the parent/guardian receives their credit card refund or deposits their refund check, we ask that they reimburse their individual Pizza Kit buyers, whether by Venmo, PayPal, check, cash, etc. Included with the mailed check will be a copy of the associated manual order form, which includes buyer names and sales $.
Please contact Stephanie Schepper (schepper79@yahoo.com) or Kelly Robrahn (robrahnfam@gmail.com) with any questions. Thanks for your patience & understanding.
CLOUD LEARNING UPDATE
To comply with the regulations established by the Zoom Corporation, we are asking parents to give consent for their child to use Zoom as part of our Cloud Learning Initiative. Our educators have been given clear guidelines about how Zoom conferencing must be used, including always having multiple students in a conference call, using the record feature as needed and to encourage parent supervision. We have found this tool to be very useful and user-friendly for our students and families.
Please complete the form linked here if you DO NOT want your child to use Zoom during our Cloud Learning Initiative. This form is OPT OUT only! Please direct any questions you may have regarding Zoom or our Cloud Learning Initiative to Deanna Barash, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, deanna.barash@wbsd.org.
NETIQUTTE
When anyone engages online, it's essential that everyone behaves appropriately. West Bloomfield students and staff must comply with the Student Code of Conduct and Staff Handbook when it comes to communicating online. As a quick reminder, when you're online, be sure to:
- Use respectful behavior and language.
- Stick to appropriate topic discussions.
- Send only appropriate video transmissions.
- Use only appropriate icon, emoji, and avatar submissions.
- Wear school appropriate clothing if you are attending meetings via video.
- Be honest and do not plagiarize or copy others’ work -- in other words, use academic integrity.
- Not falsify information about yourself or impersonate others online.
When everyone remembers to act kindly, show consideration for others, and treat one another online as you wish to be treated in person, we'll all be able to focus on learning.
